I have been working at TuneIn full-time (More than 3 years)
Higher-ups empower lower-level people to do the work necessary to run the company. There isn't much micromanagement. Socially, the place is fun and I enjoy spending time with my coworkers. The work culture is centered around working hard and being humble. There are always exceptions to the rule, but in general everyone pretty much fits the bill. Lots of good food, company events, and our office is sweeeeet.
Can be pretty stressful (comes as a consequence of being empowered). Sometimes there appears to be a lack of coordination amongst the exec staff, but that has improved over time.
Advice to Management
Looking forward to hearing about our next big step.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at TuneIn (San Francisco, CA).
This was one of the more positive interview experiences I've had. The recruiter found me online - she was very involved and answers all my questions. There was an initial recruiter call, technical phone screen, then all day onsite. The onsite interviews consisted of design questions, algorithmic/data structures questions, product, culture fit, etc. They also served lunch and I had an opportunity to sit and chat with the team, which was great.
