I worked at U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association full-time (More than a year)
I had a great time working at the USSA. I learned a ton from my supervisors (best supervisors of my career!) and got to experience some very cool events. Over the course of my tenure there, I was able to take on a variety of different responsibilities, interact with most departments and work with some of the best athletes in the world. I definitely grew a lot as a person and professionally during my time there.
Compensation and growth are tough. It's a nonprofit, so you won't be making a lot of money (and Park City isn't a cheap place to live). Benefits exist, but they aren't great. Growth is challenging because, although there is turnover in the lower roles, there is little turnovers in management. There are a lot of qualified people trying to get into very few higher spots.
Advice to Management
Find ways to grow employee salaries to keep talent around.
I interviewed at U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (San Antonio, TX) in January 2013.
phone interview with few questions, if successful you will get a face to face interview with some more questions.
