I have been working at UC Irvine Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I was initially on the fence about leaving my prior industry to go into health care administration, but I have been very happy with my choice since coming to work for UCI Health. The staff I work with is professional and warm and for the first time in my career, I feel genuinely valued and at ease in my job. The physical work environment is very nice and the chiefs of staff in our department continuously go out of their way to express their appreciation for our efforts. So far I am very happy. The pension is great (and rare), and paid time off/holidays are abundant.

    Cons

The pay does start out a bit less than the private sector, however just the cost of benefits in my previous job would devour the higher pay I received.

    Advice to Management

Make it easier for employees to advance in their current position vs forcing them to apply for different jobs in other departments to get a promotion or a raise.

    Application

I applied through college or university. I interviewed at UC Irvine Health.

    Interview

Pretty straightforward interview (mostly because this is an entry-level student assistant position). Just asked about past experiences and what you hope to gain from working here, how long you can commit, etc.
