I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at UNCOMN (United States) in Jun 2021

    Interview

I was very interested to work with this organization because of their "best place to work awards" and obvious employee appreciation culture. This was a newly created role on their marketing team. I went through two rounds of interviews. One with the recruiter and the second with the team. I followed up almost a week later and was told while I interviewed well and they were impressed with my resume, I was not selected to move forward because they wanted someone with more experience. I did still follow up and ask about other roles I would possibly qualify for at the organization as I was still interested in working there. I was not given any response by the recruiter at all. Not to mention, I believe I was practically given a generic thanks but no thanks reasoning as to why I didn't get selected to move forward with the third round of interviews. This job market is very tough right now for those who involuntarily lost their previous jobs so more constructive reasoning as to why I was not moved forward would have been more helpful than a bandaid response. Also, more effective communication to try to still place a skilled candidate in possible other roles if they express a high degree of interest in working with your company can save a negative experience.

UNCOMN is excited to announce that our Team was awarded a prime contract on the Navy IT contract vehicle SeaPort-Next Generation (SeaPort-NxG)—with a $21 billion contract ceiling. This award builds upon UNCOMN’s more than ten years of experience supporting Department of Defense (DOD) departments and national intelligence agencies, including the US Army, US Air Force, US Navy, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), and US Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM). Under the SeaPort-NxG contract, UNCOMN provides technical Information Technology (IT) services in support of the Navy’s mission to maintain, train, and equip combat-ready naval forces capable of winning wars, deterring aggression, and maintaining freedom of the seas.

Like many companies, we've been affected by COVID-19. Many of our commercial clients have retrenched somewhat, causing a drawdown on that side of the business. However, we've had a significant spike in government consulting, which has resulted in us hiring almost 50 people since mid-March when the pandemic hit full stride. If you have your own brand of uncommon genius and are looking for a place to be and do more, check out our openings--we're still hiring!
