I worked at United Information Technology as a contractor
I worked through UIT as a consultant for a year and a half on one continuous project. During that time, the support staff in the travel department were courteous, efficient and accommodating.. I had one occasion where I find myself needing after hours support and someone was on call to help. The accounting department was efficient and thorough and my expense reimbursement payments were never late. I even made a mistake one time on a hotel charge that was not in my favor, and even after I assured them that I thought my expense report was correct, they pursued the error and showed me that I was wrong and saved me some money. The recruiters and account managers were very professional in placing me in a good work position. Good people all around.
Due to a downturn in the economy overall, business dried up and subsequently many of the people I worked with were either laid off or left to find better opportunities elsewhere.
Advice to Management
Not long after the project ended, many personnel changes occurred in the company that may have been necessary at the time. However, if and when business gets better, I would encourage management to look at the formula/game plan/criteria that they had previously use to assemble the staff prior to that and go with it again. It put a lot of good people in the right positions in my opinion.
