    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Université Laval full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great sports facilities, easy to commute on north shore, relaxed but innovative environment, great for young researchers trying to bring up families, especially as world class daycare is provided by the state. Multi-lingual surroundings in Sainte Foy, very multi-cultural and dynamic, with excellent investment.

    Cons

If living on the south shore, the commute is terrible - only one bridge effectively. Winters in Quebec City are long and very cold, can be hard if skiing is not your thing. Salaries are on the lower end, and research groups often shunned by international community for more English-speaking Montreal-based centers.

    Advice to Management

Improve links to English-speaking communities, and with US researchers

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Université Laval (Quebec, QC (Canada)) in April 2013.

    Interview

Lots of mail exchanges. The one on one meeting was very eye opening and I really got to know what my futur PI wanted of me and what I needed from him
