I worked at University of Coimbra part-time
The people are very friendly
The salaries could be better
I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at University of Coimbra in February 2017.
Applied online for the public service announcement contest. Skype interview, with no real technical questions, but only to present oneself to the interviewer(s) and talk about my experiences, particularly in the research field.
Just like with every other public University, unless you are either a part of this institution (UC), (student or previous student) or you have been referenced by someone from UC, your probability of been offer a position is extremely low. These positions are usually reserved for "friends", e.g., current or old students of one the members of the selection jury, faculty members or associates. Curriculum and experience are actually quite irrelevant.
My advice: if you are an outsider, don't get your hopes up.
Despite my dislike on how these processes usually take place, I must say that at least this time, the selected candidate was the right one (just like a broken clock can be right twice a day, so does a public institution).
