I have been working at VCPI full-time
Easily some of the best people you will work with, who actually care about you. Service Desk is an awesome place start a career, and other departments hire often from there, making it a great place to advance as well.
There were rough patches, but this isn't the same company it was even 2-3 years ago, and it's only getting better.
Advice to Management
Change may be painful at times, but it is necessary, don't stop pushing.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at VCPI (Chicago, IL) in April 2012.
One interview only, and they asked me very basic questions. In fact, I was able to look up what specific questions they were going to ask me because they use a template for interviews. I can't remember everything, but if you are going to interview, know the difference between a hub and a switch. Also, know what "OU" (organizational unit) stands for. I think they also asked a few "customer sevice"-type questions.
There was no negotiation. They had a very set-in-stone figure, and weren't willing to budge. If I would have declined, they would have simply moved on to the next candidate on their list.
