VHB – Why Work For Us?

We are VHB. We’re passionate about making meaningful contributions to the world through the work that we do. We’re proud, yet humbled, to have been doing this for 35 years. We’re a team—1,300 strong—eager to deliver value by embracing our clients’ goals, anticipating challenges, building lasting partnerships, and always providing a smooth ride.

Our passionate professionals include engineers, scientists, planners, and designers who partner with clients in the transportation, real estate, institutional, and energy industries, as well as federal, state, and local governments. Together, we improve mobility, enhance communities, and balance development and infrastructure needs with environmental stewardship. Being a consultant at VHB means helping our clients achieve their goal—whether that be constructing a new bridge, opening doors for a new shopping center on time, or making sure people in their community can get around more safely. We bring together the right resources and knowledge, technical excellence, and relationships to deliver value—so that our clients can make the right decisions to move their projects forward.

We aspire for a sustainable world in all that we do. It’s inherent in who we are and our generational company philosophy—founded on stewardship. We don’t just help our clients take action to improve health and well-being, contribute to economic vitality, and promote environmental stewardship. We hold ourselves accountable to do the same at VHB—for our people, projects, communities, and operations.

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at VHB (Tysons Corner, VA) in August 2017.

    Interview

I applied through a colleague and was contacted by a recruiter within days after my resume was submitted. The recruiter was very friendly and worked with me to schedule an interview. My interview was the following week and went without a hitch. I was interviewed by a director, and three senior employees from the Planning department. The interview lasted an hour and they asked basic questions regarding my interest in the firm, my career goals, and my motivations for switching companies. Everyone was very relaxed and approachable and the interview ended on a positive note. I left the interview feeling like I fit in at VHB.
