I have been working at VTS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - VTS actually takes D&I seriously: I noticed in some reviews of former employees that they mentioned a "bro" culture, Clearly, a few years ago, that was probably true. However, since I've been here there is an employee-led task force on D&I empowered to make change, and things like unconscious bias training, gender-neutral bathrooms, happy hours at a time parents can attend, and partnerships with diverse tech non-profits have really impacted the culture. Our "I feel included scores" on our annual survey went from terrible (60s) to over 90%. We've still got work to do, but as a multi-minority I feel welcome here.
    - We're actually solving a real problem. It simply is more fun working on software that solves real problems.
-We've achieved some scale with our recent "unicorn" status - we have bigger projects and more interesting ones.

    Cons

No company is perfect. Lots of stress to continue to hit big numbers.

    Advice to Management

Keep investing in D&I. Consider 401K match.

    Software Engineer Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in New York, NY
    No Offer
    Positive Experience

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at VTS (New York, NY) in February 2019.

    Interview

    1. phone call with recruiter
    2. phone call with senior engineers
    3. 6 hour on-site meeting a lot of people

The on-site consisted of meeting some product people, sr software engineers, other software engineers and the VP of eng. There is a pair programming session for 2 hours but afterwards, they buy you lunch. Everyone seems respectful and seems like a great place to work.

I think the best takeaway that I have is.. they really love women engineers--- there is a lot of small sexual harassment in tech that goes unnoticed but I felt like that would not be tolerated here. Would recommend for my swe friends to apply-even though I didn't get it.
