Challenging, interesting, fast-paced, great staff
Micromanagers abound, lack of appreciation for work from managers, too many bedside RN's on amazon and Facebook
Advice to Management
Let frontline staff do their job and provide feedback for quality improvement. Lead from the bottom up.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Vancouver Coastal Health (Vancouver, BC (Canada)) in October 2017.
applied online. Interviewed in person with a panel interview. Questions were not particularly technical, more emphasizing personality and 'cultural fit' with the organization. With the health authorities cultural fit is particularly emphasized, with attributes that are more common to some cultures than others. Canadian mainstream traits particularly emphasized. Although my PM and healthcare background is exceptional (and this role did not have pre-selected projects assigned, as this was open and flexible) I do not interview like a local candidate, which puts me at a disadvantage in the HA hiring climate. Questions were non technical in nature, primarily assessing subjective characteristics that would not readily map up against quantitative JD criterion. The interview ended with a quick rustling of the interview paper packet, with only 20% of the question sections listing notes. Disappointed no offer, but anticipated considering the process.
