    I applied online. I interviewed at Versus Systems (Los Angeles, CA) in Apr 2021

    Interview

    I only had 1 interview, but the experience was a bit awkward/uncomfortable. I spoke with 2 people from the People/HR team. The person who started the interview seemed under prepared and like she was reading from a script. She also did not share anything about the company. When the second person joined and started asking questions, I was caught off guard when she started a question with "I don't want to offend you but.." She wanted to know why I would apply for said position when I could apply for better positions? I had already explained to her that I was unemployed for 4 months due to the pandemic, relocating to a new city, and open to any opportunity that felt like a good fit. It was uncomfortable. I would encourage that person to be a little more understanding and know that everyone's situation is different, especially in a global pandemic where millions of people have lost their jobs. Usually when you start a question with "I don't want to offend you" it's offensive. I was interviewing with people from the People/HR team so I expected them to be more prepared and professional.
