ViaWest – Why Work For Us?

Workforce Excellence

Grounded by our entrepreneurial roots, we value the unique contribution of every team member and believe that through innovation and flexibility, we can delight our customers with best-in-class products and memorable service. Awarded as a Top Places to Work, ViaWestians enjoy unique perks, such as our employee development benefit which allows team members to experience life to the fullest - learn how to snowboard, cook, or skydive - the options are endless! With our work hard, family-oriented culture, we recognize the importance of celebrating individual and team success. Through employee driven activities organized by Yippee Committees in every region, we celebrate hard work and achievement with summer BBQs, go kart racing, movie nights, baseball games, and family picnics.

Happy employees provide great service and, in turn, create happy customers!

Workplace Innovation

Our workplace culture encourages innovation and a healthy “we make it happen” environment. Quarterly “Innovation Days” allow employees to bring inspirations to the table and build upon them, whether it’s for an internal need or an external need for our customers. These events enhance the customer experience and give employees a chance to stretch personally and professionally.

Encourage Community Involvement

At ViaWest, community involvement is a grass roots effort. Our teams invest in our communities in many ways through group volunteerism at organizations such Habitat for Humanity, the United Way, Salvation Army and Max Fund. Most importantly, we provide all employees one paid day off each year to volunteer at a charity of their choice. This benefit enriches the employee experience and the communities where we work and live, and creates an environment where giving back is expected and celebrated.

Recognized as "Top Company in 2014"

ViaWest recognized by ColoradoBiz Magazine as a Top Company in 2014. ViaWest was selected as the top telecom company in Colorado this year because of its innovative data center developments, financial performance and commitment to the customer experience.

Building Sustainability Into IT Infrastructure

At ViaWest, we’re conscious of our impact on the environment. Through everyday operational strategies that mitigate our carbon footprint we strive to maintain an environmentally responsible enterprise, using the latest, most efficient technologies in our new data center developments and when performing regular physical upgrades to our infrastructure. We seek to ensure that we make the most of every opportunity to minimize our environmental impact and are committed to providing our customers with solutions that don't sacrifice any of the performance you would expect from ViaWest.

Here are the specific initiatives we have in place to ensure that we can meet those objectives:

Ambitious Goals for our New Data Centers:

Our growing experience and expertise with clean technologies has helped us craft new green goals for our new facilities in the Denver and Minneapolis areas.

  1. Facilities with a PUE of below 1.4.
  2. Use of only high efficiency uninterruptable power supplies.
  3. Cooling optimization by using both air-side and water-side economization to reduce energy use normally associated with mechanical cooling. A vast majority of this will be free-cooling.
  4. LED lighting with high bay copper fixtures that reduce energy use up to 90% compared with other lighting options and also reduce the cooling need in the facility.
