Videology – Why Work For Us?

undefined

Videology is a leading software provider for converged TV and video advertising. By simplifying big data, we empower marketers and media companies to make smarter advertising decisions to fully harness the value of their audience across screens.

We were founded in 2007 by Scott Ferber - also the co-founder of advertising.com - to solve the industry’s marketing challenges in a world where video viewership was fragmenting across screens. Today, our advertising software is being used by the biggest agencies, trading desks, and media companies around the world to reach consumers with relevant video advertising across screens. Videology currently employs over 350 team members in 28 countries around the world. The company is headquartered in New York, with key offices in Baltimore, Austin, Toronto, London, Paris, Madrid, Singapore and Sydney.

At Videology, we’re extremely proud of our technology, but it’s the people behind it who are our greatest asset. We place people at the core of our business, and we empower them to do great things. Accountability, Integrity, Passion, and Creativity: that’s our equation for success.

Whether you’re an industry veteran or an industry novice, if you have a passion for digital media, are inquisitive, team-oriented and love to roll up your sleeves and dig in, we invite you to review the posted job opportunities to see if there’s a match with your qualifications.

We are thinkers and doers. We find and solve the biggest challenges in the digital advertising world, and we have fun doing it.

The unique backgrounds and abilities our employees possess are vital to our continued success. For that, Videology is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.

The Company.

The Videology Ambition. You’ve probably never heard of it, but it’s this thing – this collective phenomenon – that has taken us from a small townhouse in Baltimore to becoming a global powerhouse in the ad tech industry. Driven by veracious, passionate leaders and pioneers in a number of countries around the world, Videology has gained success over the years through one common goal: building a unique platform that revolutionizes the way that brands, agencies and publishers interact.

The People.

It is also this Ambition that we seek in our people. Our people are naturally fearless - pursuing growth, triumph, and fun through their own sheer will and determination. They are the bright, uncompromising ones who have made us a successful company with unlimited possibilities. Walk through any of our offices and you’ll hear lively, family-like chatter: teams engaging in random corners and cubes, aligning or debating over the next big platform release…colleagues high-fiving (or the cooler equivalent) over a recent client win…managers loudly announcing after a busy day that happy hour begins in 10 minutes. You’re lucky if you don’t get hit by a Nerf gun dart during your trip to the water cooler. And, not a day goes by where charismatic, brilliant CEO and Founder Scott Ferber (whether live or spreading the love through technology) isn’t yelling encouragement and praise at no one and everyone in particular.

What our people seek, is what we can deliver. At Videology, the number one reason that our people choose us and stay with us is the rewarding feeling of Impact. Impact occurs through mentorship and coaching at all levels of the company, and through the work itself. Our people have the opportunity to own their work and are empowered to provide solutions for some of the biggest challenges in the industry. Here, micromanagement is not welcomed; we trust our people to impact results, and play a huge role in determining the strategic areas of focus that will elevate us even further off the ground. We spend a lot of time recognizing that impact, too…through bi-annual feedback and reward programs, multi-tiered recognition, company-wide town halls, and unbelievably entertaining celebrations throughout the year.

The Opportunity.

Videology is not for the faint of heart; it’s challenging, shifting, enthralling, and loud. But…you’ll learn more here than you’d ever imagined. By successfully anticipating the future of advertising, we have positioned ourselves to lead the ad tech industry with a brilliant platform built by fantastic people. The opportunities for growth (both business and personal) are endless.

We believe in the idea that Curiosity sparks Creativity sparks Innovation, and seek people who are clearly aligned with these beliefs – regardless of their background or degree. We’re diverse in thought, experience, and culture. And we’re looking for people who want to have FUN. Pioneering should be just that…right?

    Pros

The whole organization is people focused. The CEO will tell you personally that the most important asset the company has are its people. The engineering organization within the company is one of the best I've ever worked for and the engineering management is just the right amount of hands off. The managers allow for innovation while keeping an eye and advising of the possible future avenues of development. When there is time there is plenty of room for constructive experimentation. Hard work and teamwork are encouraged, recognized and rewarded.

    Cons

The benefits are on the sparse side, but I've worked at places that had worse. The management structure is pretty flat, so the career advancement through the normal promotion chain is limited.

    Advice to Management

As the company grows, keep focusing on the people that are it's lifeblood.

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Videology (Sydney (Australia)) in October 2016.

    Interview

I was approached by a recruiter for this role, and went through the first round of interview in the office, the questions are mainly to reflect my education backgrounds with some technical questions to test my knowledge in the industry. The second interview was done through Skype with the regional managers, the questions were mainly behavioral with a couple of problem solving/logic questions.
