    Pros

Visions has a (generally) positive reputation within the markets it operates. Company management has tried to make Visions a good place to work and has been successful for the most part. Many employees have been there for at least 10 years.

Pretty much everyone works about 40 hours, which is rare in today's marketplace. Benefits are above average and if you remain with the company for a while you'll have plenty of PTO.

The CEO and HR are receptive to pretty much any suggestion from any department, and the entire company is aligned to promote the company's vision of "excellent customer service" and "financial partner for life."

Training is good, and the managers are friendly and willing to give you an opportunity to move up or into a different department. Almost every employee that I worked with was nice, helpful and easy to work with.

    Cons

Probably about 80% of the employees are quite underpaid for what they contribute to the organization. The majority of employees make between 26-45k, even those that have been with the company for a few years. Branch managers, while compensated a bit higher, are underpaid for their responsibilities.

Conversely, the VP's and Associate VP's, while nice and supportive, make 3-6 times that for doing well... what appears to be less work. Additionally, if you don't suck up and brown-nose it with the VP's and AVP's you have very little chance of moving up within this company as they control all of the promotions (not your supervisor).

    Advice to Management

Give all of the non-management employees a raise. The tellers, loan arrangers, telebranch reps, collections clerks, mortgage clerks and card services people are the backbone of this company that actually provides the "exceptional service" and procures the loan volume that allows this company to operate and expand. There are many young, talented college educated professionals that will be able to make significantly more elsewhere. If the company wishes to retain a lot of it's new, younger employees they must compensate them better. Other than this, Visions is a really good place to have a career.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Visions Federal Credit Union (Montvale, NJ) in April 2013.

    Interview

They just asked for past experience with customer service. How do you handle customer complaints? Do you have any experience handling cash? All you really need to do is be competent when it comes to customer service. Let the hiring manager know that you can handle talking to people on a daily basis. It is not a sales job so you don't need to know much about the products. You just need to be available for any customer that walks into the branch.
