I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Visual IQ (Boston, MA) in July 2017.
The HR recruiter set up 2 calls with me for a phone screen which he blew off and never called. I should have let it go, but I was persistent and got him to call me. Then I had a phone screen with a hiring manager and a second call with a team member that both went well. Then I was brought into the office for a 5 hour marathon interview. Two days later I got a standard form email from the recruiter saying they were going with other candidates. After the time commitment I made to the interviews, an in person call would have been more professional and appropriate.
I followed up to get feedback, and was briefly told that they were looking for someone with more experience in an area where my experience was very clearly communicated and discussed in the first rounds of interviews. Ultimately I think the team was not on the same page for what they wanted in a candidate, and they wasted my time while they figured it out. Some of the team seemed great, but their process points to disorganization behind the scenes. They need to get their priorities straight before interviewing. HR contact was unprofessional.
