I worked at Vulcan Materials full-time (More than a year)
Great support structure and plenty of opportunity. Lots of growth. They are always looking at acquisitions. A large amount of retirements happening allowing you to move around if you wish.
Corporate not being utilized as a tool. Instead as a hindrance. Corporate out of touch. Dirty environment. Quarries are dusty and hot. Very much exposed to the elements.
Advice to Management
Let Divisions operate on there own. Become a corporate tool to allow the Divisions to call upon you for help. Not ask for information about the operation that should be known from a corporate level.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Vulcan Materials (Irwindale, CA) in March 2017.
I went to the first interview which seemed to go well. Panel of three, all very nice and made me feel comfortable. Heard nothing for about three weeks and then called back for a second interview with another panel of three. It seemed very promising. I was told that I would hear back from them by Wednesday (5 days). It has now been going on three weeks and I have heard nothing. If they would have followed up with an email stating I did not get the position, I would have given the overall experience a thumbs up. That is the least a company can do after taking the time to interview twice. I did find that many of the employees there have at least 15 years with the company which is a good sign.
