Jim Weiss

Founder and CEO

Jim has nearly 30 years of experience in strategic media and marketing communications focused primarily in the healthcare and technology sectors. He has been involved in nearly every aspect of corporate, product and organizational communications.

Under Jim’s leadership, W2O Group has grown from a one-person consultancy in 2001 to an integrated international operation comprising four separate companies, 12 offices and about 500 people. Today, the company generates nearly $100 million in revenue annually and serves some of the world’s leading companies and brands.

He ranks among the 500 Most Important People in the Global PR industry (2015) and PR Week’s Powerlist (2012, 2013, 2014) and was recently named a Top 25 Innovator in Communications (2014). Recently, he was appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Cancer Research Institute, where he serves on the Marketing Subcommittee.

Jim also is founder and sponsor of the W2O Center for Social Commerce at the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, his alma mater. The Center has become a leading academic program aimed at providing students with modern media analytics and digital insight and skills to set them apart from their peers. He was inducted into the Newhouse School’s Hall of Fame and honored as one of its 50Forward most accomplished graduates of the last 50 years.

Bob Pearson

President and Chief Innovation Officer


Bob Pearson is globally recognized as a marketing visionary who is driving “pragmatic disruption” in what is now called “Social Commerce.”

An author, frequent speaker and blogger on digital marketing, as well as an instructor for the Syracuse Center for Social Commerce and the U.S. State Department’s Marketing College, his thoughts can be found on W2O’s blog at, including a series titled “Millennials Unplugged” that he writes with his 19 year old daughter and millennials at W2O. After the success of his book Pre-Commerce, Bob will be introducing his next book on the future of media titled Storytizing, which will be available March 2016.

Prior to W2O Group, Bob worked as VP of Communities and Conversations at Dell to develop the Fortune 500’s first global social media function — an industry-leading approach to the use of social media, as highlighted in the best seller, GroundSwell. Before Dell, Bob was Head of Global Corporate Communications and Head of Global Pharma Communications at Novartis Pharmaceuticals in Basel, Switzerland, where he served on the Pharma Executive Committee.

Bob has served as an advisor and investor in many capacities. Highlights include: serving as an original member of the P&G digital advisory board, being appointed by the Governor of Texas to serve as chair and vice chair of the emerging technology fund for the State of Texas (more than $400MM invested), serving on the board of The Advertising Research Foundation, acting as an advisor to Get Smart Content and participating as a Mentor at The Capital Factory, as well as finding time to serve as a board member for The Association for Multiple Impaired and Blind, which builds homes for its constituents.

Jennifer Gottlieb

Chief Client Service Officer

Jennifer has been with W2O Group for a decade and has partnered with global companies big and small in the areas of pharmaceuticals, technology and consumer. She has supported brands from the early stages through to lifecycle management, and has managed launches, integrated campaigns and issues. Jennifer has spent the better part of her career working with top global healthcare companies, including Sanofi, Pfizer, GSK, Roche/Genentech, EMD Serono, Bausch & Lomb, as well as other global companies including Sony Electronics, Galderma, Hershey’s. Her focus is on both client counsel and development as well as operational excellence.

Fully committed to customizing every client engagement, Jennifer develops integrated teams that deliver the best work and drive business outcomes and success. Challenging the status quo, keeping her team fresh and knowledgeable, and maintaining deep involvement in our client’s business is how Jennifer rolls. She reinforces what it means to be a hands-on leader and coaches her staff to become experts in each area in which they are working to be able to add value to the client’s business beyond the projects and assignments at hand.

Jennifer is on the board of the AMIB, an organization dedicated to developing assisted living facilities to the multiple-impaired and blind, is a member of HBA, PRSA, and volunteers with the American Diabetes Association and with the North Shore Autism Circle. Before joining W2O Group in 2006, Jennifer was the Director of the Healthcare Practice at Cohn & Wolfe, a WPP agency. Prior to that, she held positions at Makovsky and Company, Edelman and Golin/Harris.

We offer an internal training tool called W2O University. It is a continuous learning experience designed for all sta­ff, at every level and point in their career growth. Built on a foundation that constantly probes the “why” in all we do, W2O University is the construct through which our firm provides the necessary training and development to improve skills, learn new skills, hone one’s thinking and approach, and explore new areas.

In 2012, W2O Group's CEO and Founder, Jim Weiss, created the W2O Group Center for Social Commerce which is a collaborative program between W2O Group and Syracuse University's Newhouse school. This was made possible through a generouse gift directly from Jim and is meant to expose Syracuse University students with the resources and training needed to successed in today's marketplace.

The Center for Social Commerce offers exclusive opportunities to it's students by:

  • Every semester W2O Group participates in Social Commerce Days. During this time, some of W2O's top leaders and subject matter experts visit the campus to teach class and meet directly with student to answer questions about their career, rising marcomms topics, and even resume reviews. This event acts as a catalyst to expose students to real-world experts, industry trends and best practices being used at W2O Group. 
  • W2O Group is committed to keeping an open channel to the univerisyt to ensure they're training many of the Syracuse professors and students on some of the shifts in the industry. 
  • W2O Group offers 2 sponsored summer internships in their New York office which is open to Newhouse students. This provides a true hands-on experience for students who get to work on client work and have an opportunity to attend the firm's SXSW events in Austin, TX. (Deemed #SXW2O events.) These student ambassador are exposed to both agency and in-house communications experience.
  • A handful of our interns were converted to full-time W2O Group employees once they graduated.

    - Many of the brightest and most passionate team members have been at the agency for years and have helped it grow from a small independent shop to a global, multi-disciplinary agency


    Not a traditional agency with lots of guardrails and old school process, like the industries they support W2O is always evolving and innovating - this can be challenge for non-self starters or non-entrepreneurial employees but is a real plus once the model and approach is clear.

    Advice to Management

    After a number of new acquisitions and many new clients coming into the mix in 2016 take a step back in 2017 help get all of the passionate folks at W20 aligned on the vision for the future and how they can best help.

    First HR phone screening was rescheduled 3x, each time after days of delay. Second phone interview was rescheduled 4x. I never got to interview with management because I couldn't keep rescheduling. They were barely communicative, and not apologetic about the cancellations.
