I have been working at WVU Medicine full-time (More than 3 years)
Benefits for union (read: lower level) staff are great - affordable health insurance, fair PDO
Coworkers are great
Shift differential is decent at 10% for working evening/night
Many Lower level staff has low morale for no reason. It's a great place to work comparatively to other hospitals in the region, but everyone seems to harp on how bad they think it is.
Getting pulled to other units is awful
Bureaucracy can be annoying
Advice to Management
Focus on improving patient safety rather than unimportant things like dress code
I applied through college or university. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at WVU Medicine (Fairmont, WV) in November 2016.
It was a very laid back interview. I spoke with one HR rep. She made good conversation which helped to ease the nerves I had. She asked very basic interview questions with nothing regarding the technical aspects of the job. I came in well prepared and feel like I was very successful.
