I have been working at Wagner Equipment Company full-time (More than 3 years)
Benefits, brand recognition, training, manufacturer support. Wagner has their own training center in Aurora to keep techs up to speed on new models and technology.
Pay is 15-50% lower than other heavy equipment shops in the area. It is difficult to survive in this market with so little pay. You have to work overtime to make enough. The shop rate is so much lower than other heavy shops in the area that it leaves no room to pay their people. They refuse to increase the rate. What's worse is they recently laid several people off and put a very low ceiling on raises, just to turn around and report, chests puffed, that they were bringing on 21 new people.
Advice to Management
Pay your techs a competitive rate that they can survive in this market with! Co-workers with young kids have it even worse!
Also fire the foremans at this location and bring on competent managers who can actually lead and stand by their people- yes men do not do shop morale any favors!
I applied in-person. I interviewed at Wagner Equipment Company.
Simple, was asked a few simple service questions, what they expect of you in the interview is different from what they expect of you work wise. It seems like they should of asked more questions about scheduling and what we expect of the company.
