I worked at Walton County School District full-time
Wonderful students and parents; pay was great; some of the schools are absolutely outstanding
Somehow this district has managed to segregate their schools. Most black students go to Monroe Area, while Loganville is almost completely white. The newest high school Walnut Grove is about 85%white. And all the feeder schools are segregated in this way as well. I have no idea how they continue to get away with this.
Also, there is a SERIOUS good ol' boy network in this district. I watched white males get promoted to school and district administrators time after time over more qualified, women and persons of color. Men who went hunting with the Superintendent, or attended church with him were given promotions they were in no way capable of doing.
Advice to Management
Get rid of the barely competent good ol boys in the administration at Central Office! Promote some of the women who are incredibly talented and well-versed in school improvement. And work on desegregating your schools!!!!
