    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Webroot full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - International travel to Japan and Ireland
    - Cross-functional work b/w Accounting, FP&A, and Sales
    - Variety of projects touching all aspects of the business, including M&A, tech accounting research, FP&A forecasting, process improvement, systems implementations, and accounting standards implementations (ASC 606, Lease standard, etc). Requires ongoing collaboration with highest levels of each department within Webroot.
    - High visibility to executives, including the CFO, Controller, VP Information Systems, CMO, and Chief Revenue Officer
    - Flexible hours, I come in late in the morning (9-10:30 am depending on the day) and work later. Others in the group come in as early as 7 am and leave in the mid-afternoon.
    - Proven record of promoting from within to the highest levels of the company
    - CFO has a hands-off approach to managing that allows for a great amount of independence and personal responsibility.
    - Great pay and benefits relative to market
    - Webroot consistently rewards and recognizes high performers
    - In-office gym
    - Incredible views of the front range (seriously, it's amazing)

    Cons

    - I-36 commute can be a drag if there is an accident.
    - Must be willing and able to change quickly. Vision and strategy changes are frequent to adapt to market needs. This is sometimes a struggle for accountants.
    - The company utilizes a recruitment process outsourcing firm which does not specialize in hiring accountants. Candidates seem to find us more than we find them.

    Advice to Management

Generally speaking, top accounting talent is sought after, not the other way around. Our recruiting firm is not active enough in headhunting the best potential candidates for our roles. We would love the ability to use third-party firms for certain roles, though we understand the impracticality of paying headhunter fees for lower level roles.
