Webroot's mission...

Make cybersecurity for small businesses comprehensive, effective, and simple.

Webroot's mission...

Be the worldwide leader in cybersecurity solutions for small businesses.

We've been...

  • Securing consumers and businesses since 1997
  • Innnovating, refining, and applying machine learning for more effective cybersecurity since 2007
  • Fully cloud-based since 2011 (and the first cybersecurity company to do it)

Our core values

integrity

We honor our commitments and we respect each other as individuals.

customer success

We measure our success by our customers' success.

excellence

We continually learn and grow to achieve excellence in everything we do.

innovation

We lead through ingenuity and creative problem solving to reshape our industry.

The Webroot threat intelligence platform uses 5th generation machine learning to analyze 500 billion data objects every day.

Our threat intelligence is derived from the Webroot® Threat Intelligence Platform, our proprietary cloud-based security analysis architecture designed for predictive protection.

Webroot machine learning functions on a scale like no other, allowing us to categorize threats effectively—including zero-day, never-before-seen threats—in near real time. By capturing millions of characteristics and applying millions of weights to each one via supervised and unsupervised machine learning, we create the equivalent of a digital fingerprint for each internet object.

We continuously classify and score 95% of the internet 3x per day.

  • 27+ Billion URLs. The volume of URLs we monitor and analyze allows us to provide accurate, actionable reputation scores.
  • 600+ Million Domains. Tied to URL intelligence, our domain coverage enables us to identify web threats quickly and correctly.
  • 4.3+ Billion IP Addresses. We scan the entire IPv4 space and in-use IPv6 three times a day and update our blacklist every five minutes.
  • 15+ Billion File Behavior Records. We catch the most subtle changes in good and bad files to detect polymorphic zero-day, never-before-seen threats.
  • 62+ Million Mobile Apps. We evaluate all apps on protected devices, translating to scale and visibility to defend mobile users.
  • 52+ Million Conntect Sensiors. Because our global threat intelligence is collective, every endpoint or sensor added amplifies our breadth of coverage.

I have been working at Webroot full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great culture that fosters innovation and collaboration between different teams
Opportunity to work on cutting edge technology to try and stay a few steps ahead of adversaries
Ability to expand skill set into new technologies

The company is actively involved in the community - hosting events for college students and grade school kids, volunteering, etc. We get something called a "volunteer day" that counts as 8 hours of PTO to be used towards volunteering in the community.

    Cons

Sometimes the coffee machine in the break room doesn't work.

    Advice to Management

Nothing to say here - I think this is a wonderful company to work for.

    Application

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Webroot in December 2016.

    Interview

Applied online and was contacted by a recruiter that works with the company. After a phone interview with said recruiter, we setup onsite. One of them did not know array size should be fixed. One of them ask difference between expected value and mean. In a word, if you want to work with smart person, do not even waste your time with them.
