Training and Education

We have a solid team of National Trainers who travel to each of our regions regularly and offer new training classes to all our associates. The training never stops at Weidner and our desire to give our associates all the tools they need to be successful.

Our Manager-in-Training Program (MIT)
Weidner has an exceptional Manager-in-Training program that provides you with a Fast Track to Management! We offer an opportunity to come into our industry, teach you everything you need to know about running a multi-million dollar apartment community and the goal of the program is to become a Community Director with us within one year of starting the MIT program.
During your MIT training program you will be mentored by one of our outstanding and successful Community Directors who will help teach you all the facets of The Weidner Way and what it takes to manage one of our assets. In addition to your Community Director Mentoring, you will go through an extensive training program that guides you through all the necessary aspects of becoming a successful Manager. As an MIT you will also attend regular classes lead by our Regional Leaders and with your MIT peers that give you the opportunity to discuss and learn from each other as well as having exposure to the in-depth experience from our Regional Leaders.
Weidner has a 10 week paid internship program that enables you to learn and experience working at Weidner and discovering the facets of a career in Property Management. This is an excellent way to see if the Property Management industry is for you. You can do an internship at any time during your college years. While most students do summer internships, we also have internships available throughout the year.
Educational Reimbursement Program
To encourage full-time Weidner associates to continue their training and education, Weidner offers associates who wish to pursue college courses, degrees or certifications on their own time before or after normal work hours, may receive up to $2,500 per calender year in financial assistance.
Service Technician in Training
Weidner has an outstanding Service Technician in Training (SIT) apprenticeship program where you will be taught all the necessary technical skills to maintain a multi-million dollar asset. During your SIT training you will be paired with one of our outstanding and successful certified maintenance mentors who will help teach you all the facets of The Weidner Way and what it takes to properly maintain an apartment community. In this 6 month training program you will learn the maintenance and repairs of electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, boilers, as well as small and large appliances. Once you have completed your training, you will be placed in a Service Technician position at one of our communities. This is a great opportunity to learn a valued and skilled trade and work for a growing and successful company.

In 2013, Weidner Apartment Homes held a series of company-wide employee engagement meetings to help better understand the wants and needs of our associates. Our team members told us emphatically that they wanted to get involved with community service in the cities they live and work in, and out of that clear directive, Weider Cares! was born.
We are excited to provide this benefit to our associates, and are proud of the grassroots nature of how it came about. Our goal is to build upon the unique culture that’s been developed here at Weidner, and to foster a commitment to giving back to the communities that have been so good to us as a company. I have been working at Weidner Apartment Homes full-time (More than a year)
One big family here at Weidner, the company offers a 30% discount on rent which is better than the industry average. Also the Health care is really good in my opinion, and the company gives you all the tools to be successful. The thing I love the most about Weidner, is they give you the ability to make decisions on a day to day when helping your residents. They have a very good internship program for students still in college and MIT program for recent College Graduates that are looking to start a career in Property Management. I have been very fortunate to work with a great Regional Director that continues to push me each day to grow to my full potential. I hope this review continues to encourage great talent to join the Weidner team and become apart of a talented growing company. Take it from me, I have worked for multiple companies in different industries and this is the first one I have worked for that I don’t feel like just number.
In my honest opinion, you have bad days and you have good days. And I have had my share of both during my time at Weidner. But at the end of the day I know I work for a company that appreciates my work and what I bring to the table. They genuinely care about my success and my family.

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Weidner Apartment Homes (Abilene, TX) in May 2016.
Phone interview first and then an interview in person with basic questions. Mostly questions that will show your integrity and skills with decision making. Will be an easy interview if you take your time and answer questions to your best ability.
