WellPet – Why Work For Us?

For over 100 years, we've delivered on the promise of doing whatever it takes to make the healthiest natural products for the pets that depends on us. Today, our team of animal lovers, nutritionists and vets at WellPet continuously aspire to craft wholesome, nutritious food for your family from our family, to bring more love and joy to meal time. We always put pet health first.

Wellness is for pets and their parents who believe – as we do – that good nutrition and healthy food are the building blocks of a long, happy life. Created by nutritionists, veterinarians and animal lovers, Wellness recipes provide an ideal balance of nature's finest ingredients, carefully selected and combined to nourish and sustain your pet's well-being. You can trust the quality of all the ingredients in Wellness, from our source to your pet's bowl. All Wellness recipes include lean meats, whole grains, fruits and veggies with no wheat, corn or soy, and no added artificial flavors, colors or preservatives.

Wellness® pet food is part of a nutritionally balanced diet that helps support your pet's total well-being. From head to tail, Wellness is nutrition with a purpose.

As we learn about the vital role that digestive health plays in whole–body health, we are seeking more active ways to help ensure that our pets have the wholesome natural building blocks for a healthy digestive system. Holistic Select is the only natural pet food that offers a complete digestive balance system to help your pet absorb and utilize all nutrients.

Holistic Select delivers guaranteed levels of:

  • Digestive enzymes and botanicals to help break down food and aid digestion
  • Prebiotics to stimulate the growth of healthy bacteria in the gut
  • Probiotics to increase the absorption of vital nutrients and prevent free radicals from entering the bloodstream
  • Natural fiber to help move waste from the digestive tract through the colon

Our dog and cat recipes feature high–quality, natural meats, fats and whole grains. When combined with regular exercise, an environment free from toxins and undue stress, consistent training and education and regular interaction with people and other animals, Holistic Select can be the first step toward your pet's whole-body health.

Our classic recipe was originally developed as a wholesome snack for fisherman while out at sea. One day, a sailor threw a biscuit to his dog, who happily gobbled it up. The rest, as they say, is history. Today, some 85 years later, the dedicated bakers at Old Mother Hubbard, continue to find new ways to bring healthy, natural pet snacks straight from our cupboard to your faithful friend's dish.

Each home–style recipe is carefully crafted from honest, high–quality ingredients like chicken, cheddar cheese, apples, carrots, sweet potatoes and oatmeal, that allow dog owners to feel good about giving their dogs a reward that is healthy and heartfelt.

At Eagle Pack®, we're proud to support the champion spirit in every dog. For nearly three decades, we've been the trusted food for champions coast–to–coast including police dogs, guide dogs, show dogs and even Alaskan-sled dogs. Our original formula was developed in 1985 with trainers and vets to meet the intense nutritional demands of canine athletes.

Now, we offer that same great performance–proven nutrition to you and your pet, with a complete line of customized foods designed to support your dog's everyday health needs. Our formulas provide the right balance of proteins, fats and carbohydrates, combined with health–promoting supplements like antioxidants, omega fatty acids and glucosamine.

From sled dogs to show dogs, farm dogs to family dogs, we feed champions every day. You too can count on our American-made foods to naturally fuel your own pet's daily adventures, whether big or small.

Whether you call it “freeze-dried” or “dehydrated” or “shelf-stable raw,” what matters most is that Sojos combines the nutrition and taste of fresh, raw food - with the convenience of kibble.

All Sojo’s recipes are made without fillers, preservatives, or anything artificial. Just a short, sweet list of entirely natural proteins, veggies and fruits - all blended with meticulous care under Sojos’ own roof.

With steadfast dedication to providing fresh and healthy pet food and treats, Sojo’s is located in Minnesota, whipping up wholesome pet food and treats for your four-legged friends - one batch at a time.

WHIMZEE’s is company of dog-lovers, people-lovers and Earth-lovers. We’re obsessed with bringing only the best, healthiest and most-fun dog products to the world. And we do it in a sustainable, socially-responsible way.

WHIMZEES has limited natural, functional ingredients and no artificial ingredients, colors, flavors, preservatives, gluten or meat. The unique shapes ensure proper blood flow through the gums and prevent bad breath and the build-up of tartar. WHIMZEES are produced sustainably. We love a healthy world as much as we love a healthy smile.

What's great about working at WellPet:

Being part of a organization that is truly committed to the natural and holistic approach to pet food. My position in Quality Assurance enables me to be on the frontline to ensure that we provide our pets with only the best.

Any pets in your life?

My wife and I have a cat named Zoe, She is the Queen Simba of the household. We both love coming home from the day at work and seeing her excitement; it makes the evening better.

What’s great about working at WellPet:

The best part about working at WellPet is being a part of a team that focuses on improving the lives of pets and their parents. I take pride knowing that the products we produce are safe, and made from natural ingredients. I also like that the company has a family atmosphere and that it’s small enough that each employee's contributions make an impact on our company every day.

Any pets in your life?

We have 3 cats and 3 dogs, ranging in age from 5 to 18. Five of them are rescues. Each family member jokingly argues over whose pet belongs to who, depending on which pet gives them the most attention. My oldest dog, Oliver, is 18 years old. He takes medications for arthritis and frequently has to get blood work to monitor his health. When he started on WellPet foods, the vet knew right away. She told us to keep it up, because Oliver was the healthiest he'd been in years. Since we started feeding Wellness and Holistic Select, all of my pets are more energized, they have lost weight, and their coats are silky soft.

At home, I spend my time...

I spend most of my time with my husband and 3 children. When we are not at sporting events, band concerts or cheer competitions, we walk our dogs and travel. My “me” time is spent doing volunteer work and going to charity functions. I love to give back to my community.

Favorite WellPet products?

Our pets love the Holistic Select dry food and the Wellness canned food. The dogs’ favorite wet food is the Wellness Chicken Stew and their favorite treats are the Old Mother Hubbard Assorted Biscuits.

In Her Own Words:

Our first born is Rommel – an incredibly caring and loving lab. Rommel is 3 years old and named after the “desert fox”. Despite his large breed size, he thinks he’s a toy breed and still loves to climb onto my lap like he did as a puppy. Rommel is big brother to Farida and Malak, our twin girls. I am from New Zealand where, growing up, I always had cats. There was Ashley, a grey Persian, and rescues Mischief and Transit.

Working at WellPet gives me a chance to be part of a team that’s on the cutting edge of product innovation in natural pet food. Each day brings the opportunity to not only meet, but exceed, the expectations of discerning pet parents. Spreading the word about the benefits of our products is something I’m very passionate about, especially after seeing the positive effect our food has had on my own dog.

WellPet's growing family of brands is based in a small company, family business legacy with over 100 years of making the finest quality natural pet food. We continuously aspire to craft wholesome, nutritious food for your family from our family, to bring more love and joy to meal time.

We are always looking for talented and creative people who share our passion for quality and our desire to make a difference in the community we share with our pets. If you want to be part of a dynamic company with strong values and a commitment to strive for excellence in all we do, then come and join the WellPet team!

    Application

I applied online. The process took 5+ months. I interviewed at WellPet.

    Interview

I applied through LinkedIn and was contacted 2 weeks later. It took another 2 weeks to get on the HR Manager's calendar for a phone screen. From there it was another 2 weeks to have a phone interview with the first person from corporate. I received very positive feedback from the corporate team member and was asked to speak with another person from corporate. Again, another 2 weeks before that phone call could be scheduled. HR contacted me after another few weeks to setup a phone call with plant leadership. That call went well and they said they wanted an onsite interview with the plant management team. It took another 3 weeks working through HR to get the onside meeting schedule (I live local so there was no travel involved). After the onsite, I didn't hear back from them for another few weeks. At that time they scheduled a follow up interview at the plant. That meeting went very well and I thought things would continue forward. I followed up with HR a few days later and they said they were still in the process of interviewing candidates and they would get back to me in a week. Another week went by and I emailed HR again, this time no response. After a week of waiting on a response from HR, I reached out to the plant leader. Again, no response.

Everyone I met with was great but HR (at corporate) is not very responsive and seems to be on an extremely slow time table. Allowing 2-3 weeks between each point of contact. I also find it unprofessional to stop responding to a candidate after multiple interviews. I had 3 phone screens with senior leadership and 2 onsite interviews and it closed with zero communication. A quick email stating they were going in another direction would've at least closed the process.
