I worked at West Marine full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The benefits and supplemental health/fitness/fun activities they offer via department get-togethers as well as cross-department and companywide events. The hours are flexible enough. The people here are incredibly interesting and always working toward something new.

    Cons

There is a lot of politics/nepotism in some departments, and the higher up you get in the chain the less likely you are to be responsive. It's a fast paced industry by nature. but people also like to move at their own pace and there are plenty of blockers along the way.

    Advice to Management

Don't let people get away with being as lazy as they are.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at West Marine (Charlotte, NC) in January 2017.

    Interview

Came in for a cashier position and they offered me a mgmt position due to my experience. I had offers from 2 other places so I called her back and told her I want the job and if she was interested I could start on Monday. She said come on in.
