In tech recruiting, playing it safe is risky business

Some companies are trying to circumvent these roadblocks with blind coding challenges, blind screenings, hiding resumes and identifying credentials from hiring managers and recruiters, but this isn't having the impact it should, Taggar says. "These blind screenings and anonymous interviewing processes are really exciting developments, but the impact is minimal.

West Safety Services – Why Work For Us?

SAFETY SERVICES TECHNOLOGY AND
COMMUNICATIONS IMPROVING EMERGENCY
RESPONSE

No other connection is more essential than the one that can save a life. At West, we deliver technology solutions and services that provide the critical link between the public and public safety.

While nearly everyone outside of the public safety sphere takes 9-1-1 for granted, we never will. After all, we’re all consumers as well as suppliers of this most critical of services. We see your subscribers, employees and end users as you see them. As ordinary citizens, just like us, who might one day find themselves in need of emergency assistance from the experts—the first responders—who can help.

Everything that happens after a 9-1-1 call is placed–the call routing and delivery, location determination, data management and situational data–that’s us. It’s essential that we execute flawlessly because every call must get through and seconds save lives. For us, it’s personal.

The committed, passionate professionals who make up the West Safety Services team spend every day anticipating, developing, maintaining and improving 9-1-1 and emergency communications. While we appreciate the evolving ideas and technology innovations that make our lives more convenient, we focus on the ones that make us all safer.

No technology will ever completely eradicate the need for 9-1-1 and emergency assistance. But working together, we can dramatically improve the odds and outcomes for all of us.

Emergency call takers need the tools to effectively and rapidly respond to each and every caller. VIPER, the industry’s longest operating, most dependable, versatile and complete end-to-end call handling system, ensures that telecommunicators are in total control of landline, wireless and VoIP 9-1-1 calls.

West provides public safety agencies with:

FOCUSED ON THE NEEDS OF CUSTOMERS
AND END USERS LIKE YOU

It’s easy to get excited about the technology innovations and platforms that are making our planet more connected and our lives more convenient, but all of that goes out the window when you or a loved one calls 9-1-1. At that moment, you’re not a telecommunications provider—you’re a consumer of the most essential service anyone will ever require. When you need help, you want the most reliable connection possible, supported by pristine data transmitted over a stable, highly-available network managed by people who know what they’re doing.

At West, we understand FCC regulations are important and exist for a reason, but they’ll never drive our innovations. Only people with ideas and passion can do that. Phrases like “robust technology” and “network reliability” aren’t buzzwords to us—they’re the drivers behind every solution and service we deliver because, in an emergency, every call must get through, enhanced situational data must be available and every second counts.

West works with our public safety partners to take care of 9-1-1 so that you don’t have to. While our solution architects are constantly striving to make our existing solutions more reliable, more stable and more secure, we’re simultaneously building a foundation for the future–so that 9-1-1 is always available to every caller from every device no matter what new technologies or regulations emerge.

While West has been in the business of 9-1-1 for more than 35 years, for us and for you, our business is always personal.

I worked at West Safety Services full-time

    Pros

Good work, life balance. Nice facility. Work worth doing. Gym. Cafe.

    Cons

There was office politics more than most companies. Under performing employees stayed on and given many chances which was frustrating to work with.
