Mission: Our goal is to verify the humanity of every online interaction.

White Ops – Why Work For Us?

Our mission is to protect the internet by verifying the humanity of every online transaction. Founded in 2012 in a Brooklyn sci-fi bookstore, we now serve trillions of monthly decisions for some of the web’s largest platforms. Our technology protects digital advertisers, publishers, ad tech, and enterprise businesses globally by detecting and blocking bots. It’s an ongoing war that we happily fight every day.

Our Mission

We keep the internet safe by fighting organized cybercrime.

Our products accurately detect and prevent even the most sophisticated bots and our customers include some of the web's largest and most forward- thinking companies.

Cybercrime has many players and new operators spring up wherever vast profits can be made. Rather than play perpetual cyber Whack-a- Mole, we aim to decrease the profitability of the crime itself - so it eventually becomes something criminals just don’t do.

Fighting cybercrime is not easy. We’re constantly pitted against other skilled hackers. We solve problems unconventionally, move fast, and create ‘tau’ for each other to constantly evolve and stay one step ahead. There are challenging problems and organized cybercriminals to fight, but the way we see it - life is too short to do stupid s**t for money ;). If our mission appeals to you, we should talk.

At White Ops we strive for a culture of robust happiness – something the ancient Greeks used to call Ataraxy.

It’s a philosophy of total dedication to your task, and an understanding that challenges can be a source of deep happiness.

It is also a way of building harmonious relations with people and the avoidance of conflict where possible.

It’s the reason our foosball table just sits there and gathers dust. It drives a real love of what we do. We like our work. We like each other.

I have been working at White Ops full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

When I interviewed here, I was looking for a certain type of workplace. I wanted a group of strong leaders who had a esprit de corp, and were tied to the mission of the company. I found it here at WhiteOps and I'm super excited to know that what they conveyed in the interviews about the company is all true. If you want meaningful work that will challenge your mind and expand your skillset, you should try to find something here. I found gold for myself here.

    Cons

We can get as creative as we want to to make our company even stronger. We have a lot to build and sometimes all the different priorities that need to be tackled in parallel make it hard to stay focused and organized.

    Advice to Management

Keep the focus on hiring strong and the hiring bar high as this is a mighty team that needs to scale and grow. We have to attract and retain our top talent to deliver for the long term.

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at White Ops (New York, NY) in April 2018.

    Interview

My interview with White Ops was overall a great experience! I originally was not too knowledgable about the company, but after having a call with the founder, Michael Tiffany, it was clear White Ops is an extremely exciting startup. He explained how White Ops is primarily interested in promoting global cybersecurity by disrupting the economic platforms and the high prices that make writing exploits or bots profitable. The White Ops website really conveys how interested they are in the "hacker mindset," and Michael really confirmed it as well as telling me about their fluid team structure and culture that is most suitable for "tinkerers."

I had another offer, and Viriginia Lloyd was really helpful at expediting the interview process and helping me make my decision. Highly recommend applying! In the end, I did not accept the offer because I was less interested in the specific team that I was placed on.
