I have been working at Whitman Walker Clinic full-time
WWH is a great place to work for people who like a social mission. They care about you as an employee, your colleagues are great and similarly committed people, and the work you'll be doing is important, giving you the opportunity to help others on a daily basis, often others who really need to help. This is also, generally, a weekday and business hours shop, and it's always nice not to have to work evenings or weekends.
My one knock on WWH and the reason I rate it 4 stars instead of 5 is the money. While the benefits are great, and you can earn a LOT of vacation time if you stick around, your salary will be on the low to medium end of competitive.
Advice to Management
I'd trade less vacation for more salary. Other than that, I'd say you're doing a great job of valuing and taking care of your employees. This is a place that I feel valued, and I really appreciate that.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Whitman Walker Clinic (Washington, DC) in August 2015.
Submitted a resume and cover letter, was called a few days later by HR Dir, scheduled an interview ten or so days hence. One afternoon, three separate one-hr interviews with a total of five people. All staffers were pleasant, very engaging and the kind of people I'd like to work with. One or two tough questions that would have required immense prior research into similar health clinics to know the answer. Didn't interview w/ the CEO, tho I'm told he made the final decision.
