Willamette Valley Medical Center – Why Work For Us?

You matter. Amazing care every time.

We have adopted this mission statement to help us focus on what truly matters: You. Our commitment is to make sure our patients receive amazing care every time they have contact with Willamette Valley Medical Center.

This is a lofty mission. When patients come to our hospital they will be touched by so many people: personnel in admitting, housekeeping, and our business office; nurses in our cancer center, emergency department, Birthing Center and intensive care unit; volunteers, physicians, technicians, and therapists.

To make sure our patients and their families have an amazing experience, we want to make sure you experience the same as an employee.

Our mission is driven by our core values:

Integrity reflects on the quality of a person’s character. We are accountable for our actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations, and outcomes. We are honest with ourselves, our coworkers and our patients. We are loyal. We treat others with respect. We do not gossip. We approach conflict directly, privately, and with a desire to improve the relationship.

Innovators value diversity and embrace ideas that are different from their own. We expand our capacity through learning. We apply knowledge to challenges. We use technology and new techniques to improve care within our hospital. We’re not afraid to try something, just because it hasn’t been done before. We adapt to change with a positive attitude. We recognize failure, and learn to try again.

Compassion means approaching every individual with caring and concern. We provide compassionate care. We seek opportunities to put the needs of others before our own. We connect with patients to relieve their stress, anxiety and help them heal. We provide service to our community.

Celebration adds joy and enriches life. We are happy. We value life and celebrate healing with our patients. We recognize good around us. We work hard, and we play hard. We celebrate personal success as well as the success of others.

Teamwork is about working together to achieve more than we can alone. We coordinate our efforts at every opportunity. We recognize that one person, one department and even one hospital cannot do it alone. We trust each other. We face challenges by working with others. We look for opportunities to collaborate, cooperate, and coordinate to improve healthcare in our community.

It is the daily application of these values that helps us provide amazing care every time for our patients.

Fostering a Healthy Community and Economy

In addition to the benefit of outstanding healthcare, Willamette Valley Medical Center provides substantial benefits to our local community. Here are some of the ways we have helped our community .

Taking Care of You

In 2015 we had more than 120,480 patient visits from your family, friends and neighbors.

Some of you came for essential preventive care, such as a mammogram or colonoscopy. Others needed blood tests or a MRI scans. Still others emergency care, a gallbladder removal, or a joint replacement.

512 of you welcomed a new family member in our family centered Birthing Center.

Helping You Afford the Care You Need

The Affordable Care Act and Cover Oregon are making it possible for more and more of you to have good health insurance. Take advantage of this opportunity to protect you and your family.

But if you are having problems paying your hospital bill, we can help. Last year we provided over $6 million in free and discounted care for our patients. Here’s how we can help you and your family afford the care you need.

  • If you earn less than 200% of the poverty level, have limited assets, and need hospital care, you may qualify for free care.
  • If you are uninsured, we will discount your bill 60%. No questions asked.
  • If you can pay your bill in payments in the next 12 months, we’ll accept those payments interest free.
  • If you need more time to pay, we will arrange a low-interest loan for up to 5 years.
  • For all the details, call one of our financial counselors at (503) 435-6329.

Contributing to Our Economy

Because you trust us to provide high quality care for you, over 600 employees work at Willamette Valley Medical Center.

They’re your family members, your friends, and your neighbors. They coach Little League, volunteer at your kids’ school, and march in the Santa Parade. They sing in your church choir and run in the Turkey Trot.

And they receive an annual payroll of $48.1 million. Because most of them live in our community, that money makes a big difference to our local economy.

In addition, we pay over $1 million in property taxes to fund our schools, pay for police and fire protection, and build our roads.

And on top of that, last year we donated another $96,000 to Boy Scouts, a Family Place, Habitat for Humanity, Henderson House, Juliette’s House, McMinnville Area Chamber of Commerce, United Way, Mid-Valley Rehabilitation and many other non-profits.

Our Community Services Team leads our efforts to raise funds for other non-profits — the Willamette Valley Cancer Foundation, St. James School, Ghana Hope, A Family Place Relief Nursery, St. Barnabus Soup Kitchen, McMinnville School district,  and others. At Christmas they stuffed the bus for the Yamhill Community Action Program (YCAP).

Earning Top Quality Awards and Recognition

At Willamette Valley Medical Center quality care is our absolute top priority. And we work hard at it.

  • Because of our success, we were named an iVantage Health Analytics® 2015 HealthStrong Top 100 Hospital. That’s right. iVantage recognized us as one of the best 100 hospitals in the United States.
  • The Joint Commission — America’s most prestigious healthcare accreditation organization — has named us a top performer on key quality measures five years in a row. Making WVMC one of only 117 hospitals in the Nation to receive such accreditation.
  • We are Oregon’s top hospital as measured by the U.S. government quality metrics.
  • We are also the top performing hospital in Oregon by Health Research and Educational Trust/American Hospital Association.
  • And HealthGrades has given us a 5 star rating for pneumonia, respiratory failure and sepsis care. What does that rating mean? It means that we are very, very good at taking care of very, very sick patients.

Willamette Valley Medical Center provides outstanding care for patients and an outstanding work environment for physicians and staff.

Willamette Valley Medical Center values a diverse and culturally competent workforce. Individuals with diverse backgrounds and a culture of inclusion are encouraged to apply. We provide reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities. We are an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer.

It’s a good place to work, a state-of-the-art facility where dedicated people enjoy their work and are committed to providing our patients with quality care.

Willamette Valley Medical Center offers a comprehensive benefits package to full-time employees scheduled to work at least 32 hours a week and part-time employees scheduled to work at least 20 hours a week.

Our benefit choices allow you to create a plan that will best serve your individual needs. Some of the options include:

RCCH Healthcare Partners is proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package generously subsidized by the facility. Benefits are available for full-time employees scheduled to work 32+ hours per week and part-time employees scheduled to work 20-31 hours per week. Benefits include:

Employees have a choice of three different health plans (2 PPO Plans and an Account Based Health Plan); each is designed to provide competitive healthcare coverage to employees and eligible dependents. While each plan covers the same services, they differ by offering varied co-pays, out of pocket maximums and premium contributions, providing employees with choices that allow them to select the best plan to meet their family’s needs. Our medical plans also provide extensive prescription drug coverage, with options for local pharmacy fulfillment or more conveniently through mail order services that include online services..

The RCCH Healthcare Partners Wellness Program provides employees with a broad range of informational materials about wellness and other resources to help them achieve and maintain good health. Employees enrolled in an RCCH Healthcare Partners medical option may earn incentives in the form of medical premium discounts for being tobacco-free and for wellness activities such as biometric screenings.

Health Savings Account

Employees selecting the Account Based Health Plan and who qualify under IRS rules may also contribute to a Health Savings Account (HSA) with pre-tax dollars up to the maximum annual IRS limit. The HSA is used to pay for eligible healthcare expenses such as deductibles, copays, vision and dental care. Any balance in the account at the end of the plan year will roll over to the next year, allowing the account holder to accumulate money on a pre-tax basis to offset medical expenses in the future.

Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts

Employees can save money by contributing to a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) up to the maximum annual IRS limit with pre-tax dollars. The Healthcare FSA can be used for eligible out-of-pocket healthcare expenses such as deductibles, copays, vision and dental care for individuals who select either of the PPO health plans. The Dependent Care FSA can be used for expenses such as daycare for children and/or senior dependents (regardless of the selection of your medical plan). The balance in the Dependent Care account does NOT roll over each year and must be used for expenses incurred within the same plan year. Any balance up to $500 in the Healthcare FSA at the end of the year will roll into the next year.

A comprehensive dental PPO is offered which provides coverage for preventative and diagnostic dental services, basic services, major services, as well as adult and child orthodontia.

Our vision plan provides coverage for yearly eye exams and contact lenses or glasses and discounts on sunglasses and other eye health services.

Short Term Disability

The Short Term Disability (STD) plan provides income protection in the event an employee becomes ill, injured or pregnant and is unable to work for a short period of time. Our coverage insures payment of 60% of the employee’s base salary. Since the premiums are paid with post-tax dollars, benefit distributions are non-taxable. Certain rules apply (including pre-existing condition exclusions), so be sure to check with the human resources representative for more detailed information.

Long Term Disability

Employees may choose from three Long Term Disability ( LTD) income protection plans which cover either 50%, 60% or 66 2/3 % of their base salary (subject to maximum limits and duration) if the employee is disabled due to illness, injury or pregnancy. As with the STD plan, premiums are paid with post-tax dollars; therefore, benefit distributions are non-taxable, closing the gap between the benefit distribution and spendable income before the disability. Coverage is subject to pre-existing conditions, an elimination period and income offsets such as social security.

Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance

WVMC provides Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance equal to the employee’s annual base salary (subject to maximum limits) at no cost to full-time employees working 32 or more hours per week.

Supplemental Life and AD&D Insurance

Employees may purchase additional supplemental life insurance up to seven times their annual base salary or to a maximum of $2.5 million, whichever is less (subject to evidence of insurability). Supplemental AD&D insurance is also available up to ten times annual base salary or $2.5 million, whichever is less.

Spouse Life and AD&D Insurance

Employees may purchase life insurance on their spouse up to $150,000 (subject to evidence of insurability). Spouse AD&D is available up to $500,000.

Child Life and AD&D Insurance

Employees may purchase life insurance on their children up to $10,000 each and AD&D up to $50,000.

Employee Assistance Program and Work Life Services

Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) and Work Life Services are provided at no additional cost to the employee, offering many confidential resources to both employees and those in their household on a wide array of issues including:

  • Unlimited telephonic counseling and up to three face to face visits with a counselor for issues such as emotional problems, substance dependency, stress, anxiety, depression, family/marriage problems, etc.

Beneficiary Support Services

401(K) Retirement Plan

Available to employees upon hire, employees choose from several investment options making contributions with pre-tax dollars, thus reducing their taxable income. As part of the discretionary match program, RCCH Healthcare Partners may match a specific portion of an employee’s salary deferral contributions each plan year. When a discretionary match is made, it will be funded once per year, after the close of the plan year and audits are completed.
