I have been working at William Rainey Harper College part-time

    Pros

Great place to work. Most of the people that I've worked with are wonderful. Truly is like a family and they have a great work/life balance atmosphere. Not sure about the "higher-ups" but deans, advisors, teachers, etc. truly care about their students. I've been working there for almost 10 years. If you are a full-time employee, benefits are amazing.

    Cons

No health insurance for part-time employees. Also, there are definitely some employees who are not open to change, but I guess you have that in any other work place.

    Advice to Management

This isn't geared towards my immediate supervisor nor to their supervisor but definitely to the higher up that seem to be out of touch with students. Listen to the people who are having student contact on a daily basis. If you are looking to serve the college better, listen to the people that know the students most.

    Application

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at William Rainey Harper College (Palatine, IL) in September 2013.

    Interview

One interview with the department chair occurred. It was held in that person's office, and took approximately 20 minutes. It was mostly just a conversation, as the person said I appeared more than qualified given my educational experiences.
