National and Global Reach
Wilson Elser is a full-service law firm with nearly 800 attorneys in 30 offices throughout the United States. Founded in 1978, we have enjoyed sure and steady growth to become one of the largest and most influential firms in the country. With an office in London and affiliate firms in France and Germany, Wilson Elser also provides “on the ground” advice and representation on an international basis. Our large, loyal and expanding client base transacts business in every key global region.
Culture of Collegiality
Forming teams with colleagues across the hall or across the country, we’re committed to delivering demonstrable value to our clients while advancing their most ambitious legal objectives. With a comprehensive roster of service areas firmwide, these cross-practice collaborations spawn innovative solutions to our clients’ most complicated legal challenges. This is one of many reasons why Wilson Elser ranks in the Am Law 100, in the top 50 of the National Law Journal 350 and has been named to Corporate Counsel’s list of “Go To” firms. Thriving in this “culture of collegiality,” many of our attorneys and staff members count their tenure here in decades, not years.
While Wilson Elser is proud of its heritage in insurance defense, our experience increasingly encompasses corporate and transactional and related practices. Our firm’s litigators are known to be among the most experienced in the country, if not the world. They are formidable advocates and trusted advisers who, individually and collectively, enjoy an enviable track record of success.
Diversity & Inclusion
At Wilson Elser, we believe that cultivating an environment that embraces and promotes diversity is a foundational value, critical to the success of our firm and central to the integrity and vitality of the legal field. Bringing together people of different backgrounds and beliefs, people with diverse perspectives, fosters the innovative and creative thinking that enhances our response to the needs of our clients. Wilson Elser’s commitment to diversity informs our efforts in recruitment, hiring and training as well as the organizations to which we belong and the programs we sponsor.
We believe in creating a work environment free of barriers and bias, where individual outlooks and talents are respected and valued. Our firm’s policy is to ensure equal employment opportunity without discrimination or harassment based on race, color, national origin, religion, age, sex, disability, citizenship, marital status, sexual orientation or any other characteristic protected by the law.
Beyond legal compliance, our firm strives to mirror the rich diversity of the communities in which we practice, to respect the diversity of our clients and their workforce and to employ best practices to identify, select, hire, retain and promote qualified individuals without boundaries or limitations, other than those imposed by their own choices and capabilities. This allows us to better represent our clients in today’s diverse, multicultural society.
Wilson Elser is also committed to promoting diversity through the selection of vendors. We actively seek certified minority- and women-owned businesses and provide them with the opportunity to partner with us to provide services to our firm and our clients.
Giving back to our communities is a foundational principle at Wilson Elser. We offer extensive pro bono services designed to help ensure universal access to the legal system, especially among those who are poor or otherwise marginalized. Wilson Elser leadership encourages all of our legal professionals to perform pro bono work, benefiting the immediate and surrounding areas in which we live and work, creating opportunities for our attorneys to gain invaluable training and experience and forging meaningful relationships between the firm and its communities nationwide.
Wilson Elser’s pro bono initiatives demand the same high standards of professionalism accorded any work undertaken by the firm. We endeavor to use our extensive litigation and trial experience to help those who do not have the resources to retain counsel, including children, immigrants and veterans.
I have been working at Wilson Elser full-time (More than 10 years)
Great place to work, learn and grow professionally.
Long hours but flexible schedule.
The process took a week. I interviewed at Wilson Elser (New York, NY) in December 2010.
Very typical and standard interview. The partner brought a few Legal Assistants with him. They discussed my resume and experience. Plenty of time for Q&A. Very quick turnaround. Very comfortable interview process -- no surprises and nothing unexpected.
