I have been working at Winston-Salem State University (More than 3 years)
Family environment, opportunities for professional development, great library community in the region & state, student-centered institution with great colleagues to work with. Great place to get your feet wet if you are interested in teaching.
Like any state agency, raises determined by budget & then chancellor, to advance in higher education need to seek another institution.
Advice to Management
Accountability is imperative. There needs to be some type of recognition for those who go above & beyond their "normal duties".
I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Winston-Salem State University (Winston-Salem, NC).
Pretty typical interview where you are asked all the common "why should we hire you questions". Also, there were position specific questions and an on the spot "activity" (for lack of better word right now) to demonstrate skill.
