Good luck on finals to all of the students we met this fall!
As a CPA and consulting firm, Wipfli can give you the ability to pursue career paths outside of traditional accounting. From business advisory services to technology solutions, we seek to make lasting, positive impact on our clients’ businesses and organizations — and the growth of our associates is a key part of that mission.
No matter if you’re a new graduate looking to earn your CPA certification or an experienced consultant aspiring to become an industry leader or partner, Wipfli is dedicated to your career development and success. We provide our associates with tuition reimbursement for earning advanced degrees, and our Wipfli U platform offers classroom trainings, self-study sessions and conferences to further develop specialized skills and earn certifications.
At Wipfli, our associates have opportunities every day to apply their experience and knowledge to solve unique client challenges. Young professionals work closely with our senior leaders to gain exposure to these challenges and develop the solutions we provide.
Plus, as part of our firm’s growth initiative, we are increasing the number of industries we serve, geographies we operate in and services we offer. Our strong vision for the future will allow our associates to innovate within our industry and position Wipfli for continued success and longevity.
Build your career at Wipfli:
At Wipfli, we’ve fostered a culture of inspiration, curiosity and support. With a consultative mindset, our associates ask questions to identify our clients’ true challenges and needs. We imagine what’s possible, not just what’s been done before. And we support each other so we can all achieve our full potential and positively impact the lives of others. We live the Wipfli Way.
Five core values drive our firm:
As a member of our team, you will be inspired to follow your passion, grow as a professional by developing your skills and commit to serving our clients and communities with honesty and integrity.
And because our work doesn’t necessarily take place in an office, we’re flexible. Through alternative work arrangements and collaborative tools and technology, we’ll provide you with the resources you need to thrive in your role while helping our clients succeed.
Last but certainly not least, Wipfli is committed to a culture that is both inclusive and embraces the power of our differences. Groups like our Women’s Impact Network connect our associates and make a difference in both their careers and communities.
Live the Wipfli Way:
Giving back to our communities is a fundamental part of the Wipfli culture. We create lasting, positive impact not only by supporting our clients and each other, but also by embracing community service to make a difference and impact generations to come.
One of the biggest and most anticipated days of the year at Wipfli is Community Day. A firm-wide event hosted with nonprofit service organizations around the country, Community Day supports over three dozen charities. Our associates spend the day volunteering in the communities where they live and work, touching the lives of others in an important, impactful way.
As part of Wipfli’s service-oriented culture, we encourage our associates to pursue their own passions and provide them with the flexibility to take an active role in their communities. Many of them are proud members of nonprofit boards, regularly volunteer at organizations and donate to those in need.
With education being such an important pillar of our communities, Wipfli’s One Foundation charity and donation-matching program supports the universities and colleges our associates attended — representing our commitment to life-long learning.
Create a lasting, positive impact:
Did you know Wipfli visits college campuses year-round? From career fairs to summer leadership programs, you can meet our recruiters at universities across the country to learn more about Wipfli, ask questions and see if we’re the right fit for you.
Wipfli is dedicated to empowering the next generation of accounting professionals and consultants. We provide course assistance and even passing bonuses for those earning their CPA designation, and we ensure our entry-level associates receive the mentorship they need to succeed and grow.
We also offer internships throughout the year — so if you’re not ready to graduate but are on an accounting or consulting career track, get some real-world experience by interning in one of our offices. We hire around 75% of our interns into full-time positions!
Connect with Wipfli:
Whether you’re an experienced professional or a recent graduate, it always helps to be prepared!
Wipfli uses behavioral-based interviewing, meaning we ask questions to discover what your thought process is like, how you solve problems and what types of experience you have. We appreciate when you use the STAR method of answering, which is where you explain the situation, task, action and result.
When interviewing for consulting positions, we typically give our applicants a case study scenario, which helps us further understand how you would approach a real-life client situation and use innovative thinking to resolve challenges.
We want to make sure you enjoy working at Wipfli and have a high chance of success in your role. We strive to build teams that communicate well, take initiative, work great with others and embody a consultative mindset, and we look for those qualities in candidates.
It also doesn’t matter where you’re located — we’re big on leveraging technology (think Skype or video conferencing) to conduct interviews. Anything that makes the hiring process more efficient is okay in our books — and probably yours, too!
Tips for your interview with Wipfli:
I have been working at Wipfli full-time
Wipfli is a progressive firm which is focused on the future growth of the company and its people. Leadership has a keen eye to the future to make sure we are poised to service our clients in an evolving technological environment and marketplace, while maintaining our good track record of growth. LOTS of opportunities for younger and less experienced associates to assume responsibility and leadership positions; in fact its encouraged. This is a great place to grow and learn and to DO. No lip service here. The firm, while growing, is keeping its focus on small and mid-sized clients, so you get the best of both worlds: national resources, training and expertise, and close client contact with businesses to which you can relate.
As in any growing organization, there are always new initiatives and technology advances which create growing pains.
Advice to Management
Keep up the good work! I am excited for the Wipfli 2025 vision and for all of the opportunities someone at my career stage is able to experience.
I applied through college or university. The process took a week. I interviewed at Wipfli (Chicago, IL) in September 2017.
First round interview was on campus. Very friendly interview who knew how to make me comfortable. Basic behavioral interview questions like tell me a little about yourself, a time when you had to deal with a group conflict, a time you experienced failure, etc.
Second round interview was at their office in Chicago. Quite intense. A lot of situational/behavioral questions.
