Advice to Management
Continue to provide opportunities for people to grow.
I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Wolf & Company, PC (Boston, MA) in June 2017.
A partner reached out to me via LinkedIn and asked if I would be interested in discussing a position with the firm. Given that I knew people working for this company who had positive things to say, I obliged. I was then contacted by two HR employees who asked me for my formal resume and scheduled an interview. I met with the HR director, several supervisors/managers and the partner for that sector. I was told that because I was meeting everyone in one day that I would not need to come back for a second interview as they typically expect. The interview itself went very well and I felt that I fit their culture and criteria. I was subsequently asked to fill out a form authorizing a background and credit check. I agreed to this because the interview had gone so well and I was left with the impression that I would receive a formal offer in the interim (contingent upon that background check). I returned the forms within a few business days and after a week of hearing nothing back, I reached out to HR to follow up. I was told that if they needed anything further they would reach out to me. I never heard back and I felt it was unnecessary to share sensitive, personal information (SSN, credit etc) without having received an offer. (Just to clarify, I work in the banking industry, which requires background and credit checks, and there is nothing in my history that would have disqualified me from this position). I typically have no problem providing background information to an employer, but felt it was invasive in this instance as an offer for employment was not made, nor did I receive any feedback on why an offer was not made.
