Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

  1. Account Manager Interview

    Anonymous Employee in United States
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview
    Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Workable (United States)

    Interview

Applied online, got contacted via email by the recruiter and had initial video screening. Recruiter was very young and at one point said they didn't know any parents besides their own. I found this statement very strange and implied no one with children worked at this company. The recruiter struggled to answer my role specific questions and said these would be better questions for the hiring manager however I didn't even get a chance to chat with the hiring manager. I was not a fan of their interviewing style it felt very dated and antiquated which was bizarre since its a hiring, HR platform. "Give me a strength, give me a weakness". I understand that this is a common interview question but I personally feel like this is such a dated question especially for a company who is attempting to revolutionize the hiring process. Every response to me answering the questions were "awesome", "cool". I also felt too old for the company and I'm 31.
