Wyoming Medical Center – Why Work For Us?

Acute care hospital on two campuses in Casper, Wyoming

You don’t need to leave the state to get the highest quality medical care. Wyoming Medical Center is Casper’s only nonprofit, full-service acute care hospital, located both in the heart of the city and the heart of Wyoming. In 2018, we acquired another hospital on Casper's east side and formed our new East Campus. Our McMurry West Tower, completed in the fall of 2014, was designed around the unique needs our community, adding 100,000 square feet of state-of-the-art medical space to better serve you.

We have:

  • 235 beds on two campuses
  • 1,300 employees
  • 233 providers in more than 75 specialties
  • 93 percent of physicians board certified
  • Regional Trauma Center
  • 13 specialty, primary and immediate care clinics
  • 113 volunteers

COMMUNITY BENEFIT

Being nonprofit means we invest all money back into serving the health of our community. We treat everyone who walks through our doors, from birth to old age, despite ability to pay, and we proudly serve patients on Medicare and Medicaid. We provide more than $50 million in charity and uncompensated care each year. More than simply caring for you when you are sick, we are working to build a healthier place to live.

CULTURE OF SAFETY

In 2009, Wyoming Medical Center created our culture of safety, implementing hospital-wide initiatives to eliminate medical errors and improve patient care. We have consistently scored the highest among Wyoming hospitals on The Leapfrog Group’s Hospital Safety Score and earned many other awards for safety and quality.

GUARDIANS OF HEALTH

There’s a reason our logo resembles a shield. We’re called to protect the health of the people who call Casper, Natrona County and Wyoming home — represented by the shield's three sides. Our brown and gold colors honor Wyoming’s rugged landscape. We’ve been our community’s guardians of health for more than 100 years, and we hope to continue to be the guardians for a 100 more. Everything we do is built around you.

    Pros

WMC has given me ample opportunity to grow within the company. I have also been provided with several opportunities to receive additional education and training for my position and make sure I have the tools I need to do my job well. I love the people I work with; my boss gives me independence to do my job but is always there when I need assistance. We work as a team and help each other to make sure we get the job done at the end of the day. I have the privilege to work closely with senior management and they always remind me the work I do is valued and ensure I feel very appreciated.

    Cons

I think there could be some improvement in allowing non-clinical areas to set their work schedules to fit their lives and work style better. I know some departments allow this, but the organization as a whole hasn't yet adopted it, yet. I believe this would be a huge benefit and help attract and retain employees.

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Wyoming Medical Center.

    Interview

The interview is a behavioral based questions. They ask for a certain situation, action, and the outcome. The interview really made me think about the process and situations I have been in and how I handled them.
