I have been working at WyzAnt part-time (More than a year)
You meet nice people that you are able to help with your skills. If you are good at what you do, they keep coming back, making your business grow and you easily get additional clients who request your services. The inital 40% cut is not unusual, as the company supplies your clients. However, it lessens as you get more students. You have flexibility to choose your clients.
This is only a part time job, and you have to plan for times when there is less demand for your services, like winter break. You can also get inundated during times like the end of the semester or the school year, when all your students have exams and papers due. It may be hard to get initial clients, but once you do, the demand grows.
Advice to Management
Reward and support good tutors who make your business grow. Advertise quality services, not low cost services.
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at WyzAnt (New York, NY).
No interview necessary just an online questionnaire that included personal information education and a few qualifying questions that was to be approved before being able to conduct business with the company.
