I worked at Xicato as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great group of very friendly, talented and smart people doing some breakthrough work in the field of LED lighting. Nice casual and flexible work environment. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience working on a variety of assignments but most of all interacting with the various personnel across multiple departments and disciplines.
I experienced a large amount of autonomy during my tenure which great for the self motivated. They also compensated me very well.
If you like wine then there are plenty of connoisseurs to interact with here (during after-hours socializing :-)).

    Cons

The only con I experienced was very minor. Certain key technical individuals were very busy and therefore getting time with them was difficult. This made it challenging to complete some of my assignments in a orderly fashion.

    Advice to Management

Try not the loose the great work atmosphere and values as the company grows larger.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Xicato in July 2013.

    Interview

Had one screening phone interview. then an interview with Senior Thermal Engineer who was impressed. Then with the VP of engineering who was happy but said I should talk to one more person befre they can go ahead with face 2 face. Then with a mechanical engineer and a founder. who apparently wasn't impressed.
