I worked at York English full-time
Free housing, decent training, an amazing support network of teachers who will become life long friends.
Support from administration for things like visiting the doctor or dentist.
Plenty of room to grow in your role as a teacher, senior teacher, and AC. The school is also opening up other roles outside of teaching, which is a great for ESL teachers who may not want to teach when they go home.
Really cheap travel from Fuzhou to the rest of Asia. Also a great deal to explore in Fujian province; the Hakka Huts, Wu Yi Shan mountains, Xiamen, Xiapu mud flats.
Lots of free time during the week to explore the city before work.
Okay, so other schools can offer more money. But I found that I had more than enough to travel in and outside of China and save a good chunk before leaving. More money doesn't necessarily mean that any other school is better, or provide the support you need to be comfortable in Fuzhou.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6+ months. I interviewed at York English (Los Angeles, CA) in February 2017.
Mike interviewed me through Skype. He was very professional and prepared to answer any of my questions. The connection did lag a bit, but it worked.
There may be an issue with interviewees in the US where the time you are given for your interview might not match the time in Fuzhou. I ended up talking to the interviewer at 2am on a Sunday morning, but it went well
