    Pros

The few students who really want to work hard and are there for a reason

    Cons

Majority of students expect easy grades, have a poor working knowledge of English and therefore writing essays is of a challenge. The University needs to build up its credentials with a solid staff however with no salary increases along the path, there is little room for professors to stay long term.

    Advice to Management

Once you leave you are out of their system and have 48 hours so save all your contacts!!!

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3+ months. I interviewed at Zayed University (Los Angeles, CA).

    Negotiation

In my first contract I was offered 15,000.00 per month but arrived in Abu Dhabi to find a contract with a salary of 11,250.00 per month. HR would not honor the first agreement and I was left with having to take the low salary as I was already there. I left after 2 years for a position at a neighboring country. I was asked to reapply after 2 years at the other institution and did so because there had been a change in the administration. I negotiated my salary successfully but did not move till after I had the contract in hand and a string of emails documenting the negotiation process. Stating one salary and then being given a lower one is not peculiar to Zayed University. The American University in Dubai is known to do the same.
