I have been working at bd’s Mongolian Grill full-time (More than 10 years)
Fast paced, fun environment. With good chemistry, the grillers can make a lot of money in tips! When you get good at grilling and entertaining, guest are happier and tip a great deal. In my experience, the best managers started out as grillers
The heat! And occasionally the teamwork dynamic can crumble. Not having tip out from servers is a draw back. Used to be able to make my rent with just tip out
Advice to Management
Promote and reward grilled more frequently. Or require all FOH staff to grill before becoming servers or host.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at bd’s Mongolian Grill (Columbus, OH) in April 2016.
Easy and friendly. Called got interviewed on the spot, had orientation the next day. I applied to be a server but they started me off as an host. Asked my availability and gave me a second interview which was just a feel for my personality.
