    UX Designer Interview

    Anonymous Interview Candidate
    No Offer
    Negative Experience

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at btrax.

    Interview

The overall process took over 2 months with four rounds-three in-person interviews and a last minute design challenge that was expected to be completed over a weekend. Towards the end, staff was unresponsive to requests about the decision.

    Interview Questions

    • Describe your design process?   Answer Question
    • Status: Just launched an EC-only brand in the US, selling premium goods. The site is successfully launched and operational, and we would like to continue to refine the users' experience as we continue to work with (company) to introduce new footwear in 2018.

Assignment: in less than 10 power point slides and/or 500 words, please tell us how you would address current design challenges to Joe, the designer you have met at btrax. Please do not spend more than a couple hours working on this; we would like to judge how you might execute a real assignment from our team.

Deliverable: short presentation or response on the above

Current user feedback(some are true, some are fabricated for this exercise): Especially for the sports collections, users are having difficulty finding the right sized products. Aside from the top IA menu bar, it can be difficult to navigate to the right products. Do users know who (company name) is? The about section does not get a high click rate. Can users see the benefits of (company name) technology and attention to detail? Many times the users click "buy" before scrolling all the way down to read the product details. Please also consider improvements from a fundamental UX perspective that we might not have noticed, yet.

Deadline: 74 hours (prompt was given late Friday afternoon and due end of day Monday)

If you have any questions, please ask me before 6:00 pm today or I will get back to you during the day on Monday. Looking forward to making our decision to invite one of you exceptional UX professionals to our team. If your availability has changed, kindly let me know.   Answer Question

Company Updates

  • Managed to get through 2016 and ready to head into '17 with some old and new faces. For the first time we will be working with a btrax staff of more senior and junior employees. I am excited to see the collaboration and growth that is bound to come!
