I have been working at eharmony full-time (More than a year)

Working in the dating industry is fun - and being able to create happy couples is the ultimate reward for the work that we do.
The company has been around since the turn of the century (2000) so is quite old in internet years, but is constantly developing new products in order to compete.
eharmony is located at a great location right next to UCLA with plenty of gyms, restaurants, shopping etc nearby.
Company culture is pretty relaxed as long as you get your work done. There have been layoffs over the past year but was a long overdue necessity - you can't stay fat when competitors are nipping at your heels.
Benefits include unlimited vacation (as long as you can find the time...), free breakfast and lunch multiple times per week, and an office with lots of space.

Over the years eharmony has grown to become one of the major dating companies in the US, but has lately (like most other dating sites) been impacted by the rise of the mobile dating apps, which has again lead to some cost cutting and subsequent layoffs.
The management layer has been rather slim over the past year with multiple open positions (that are in the process of being filled) and a sense of being in fire-fighting mode.

    Advice to Management

Company is moving in the right direction and is definitely much better off today than a year ago. Stay focused!

    Easy Interview

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at eharmony (Los Angeles, CA) in August 2015.

Round 1: 45 min phone screen - theoretical concepts about Java - mostly about data structures and concurrency

Round 2: 45 min Skype interview - Java programming problem through collabedit

Round 3: Onsite interview in Westwood office in LA, from 11 am to 4:45 pm - 45 minute sessions with different interviewers who test Java coding abilities, multi-threading, design patterns and some basic SQL knowledge. Went out for lunch with one of the interviewers to a nice Italian restaurant, Palomino, a couple of minutes walk from the office.

The Westwood office is new, and the interviewers are nice and friendly. The recruiter played a vital role by keeping me well-informed about the process, which is quite amazing.

The whole interviewing experience was good, and met my expectations that the company had built up through the phone screen and Skype interviews.

I had to choose another offer over eHarmony's, which was for a specialized position in my field.
