thoughtbot works with companies in every step of the process to help identify and solve problems. We lead and participate in product design sprints, build high-quality apps, and then deploy them. We use emerging and effective technologies and methods on both internal and client projects. We believe there is always a better way to do our work, and take initiative to improve ourselves, the company, and our community.

Our team works in a relaxed and educational environment to create excellent products for our clients. We work a sustainable pace of 40 hours/week, consulting for clients four days/week.

We like to think of perks as standards and keep ourselves happy while we work. There’s stellar vacation time and fully stocked offices with everything from Klondike bars to neat little notebooks. If you need a change of scenery, you can work from home.

Investment days

On Fridays, we have “investment time” when we learn new tools and techniques, work on open source, create new products, write blog posts, and try to make ourselves, each other, and the community better.

Always learning

We pay 100% of expenses if you speak at conferences and 50% of the cost for attendees. We also have a 3-day hackathon at the end of every year.

Stay fresh

We have five weeks of paid time off per year, personal days, plus extended leave. For new parents, we also have at least 6 weeks paid leave in all locations, as well as the ability to take at least 6 months off.

Healthcare + financial

For full-time U.S. employees, we pay 100% of medical, dental, vision, and life insurance premiums, plus we have a comprehensive 401k plan.

Everything we do is predicated on having a great team and a culture of growing. We use the latest technologies and are always down to try new methods on both internal and client projects.

    I applied online. I interviewed at thoughtbot.

    They got back to me 6 months after applying due to rolling recruitment which wasn't mentioned anywhere. Maybe I missed that part. First interview was a video call which delved deeper into my motivations and goals. Was ghosted afterwards with no follow up.
