    Pros

Great work environment - people are awesome, collaborative environment, plenty of resources and everyone has an excellent attitude.
The work is also very rewarding and it feels great to be a part of a business growing so rapidly.
You' re well looked after here.

    Cons

Cannot think of anything really. It's not a huge blue chip company, but that's not a con for everyone

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing

I have been working at 1010data full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people. Great mission. Cool data science and mathematics and statistics application. Really love the types if problems that we fqde

    Cons

It is building full scale products and i think a lot of young data scientists want to work towards projects that would fall into internal research rather than analysis

    Pros

The new format for our Town Hall meetings is a game changer. Strategy and execution are more clearly and regularly re-defined and communicated. It’s a welcome breath of fresh air in such a fast paced environment and fosters a more collaborative and trust-based culture. I know more about what is happening with different business areas and the impact of the work I am doing. It’s a way more scalable, and frankly enjoyable approach.

    Cons

The pace can be a bit intimidating. Teams should be held more accountable for correcting even the slightest operational inefficiencies in order to help us scale.

    Advice to Management

Keep listening to and acting on the input of the employees, they are our greatest asset!

    Pros

Eh, people are nice i guess. but really, there are not many pros. This company will not have a future, and their acquisition was the beginning of an end.

    Cons

Literally a death magnet for a software engineer. Their tech stack, wtf? no applications in real industry. Their development process? pretty sure its just write a bunch of code and deploy when you feel like it. no product managers, no structure, no real future plans for expanding the product. in fact, their tech is so isolated and unlike anything else in the software engineering world (not in a good way) that i don't think they use a single piece of open source software. that might sound cool, no dependencies is a pretty good thing, but not when you find yourself reinventing the wheel for every tool that a good software engineer relies on. bottom line, this is where your career dies if you go here for software engineering.

    Advice to Management

I disapprove of the CEO, but for some reason it says the CEO is Sandy Steier. I disapprove of the other guy.

    Pros

Rapidly growing company with an incredibly supportive culture. The work is intellectually intense and challenging and you get to work with people that are incredibly smart, hard working, and know how to have fun while getting their work done!

    Cons

At times, growing pains get in the way of being proactive causing lapses in accountability.

    Advice to Management

Love that you are sharing our future strategy...please continue with the increased communications!

I have been working at 1010data full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

At 1010 I get given problems as a entry level employee people wouldn't touch for years at other companies. Surrounded by super smart people too.

    Cons

Petty Office drama and politics for a small minority of the company. Nepotism for some of the people working there.

    Advice to Management

Don't hire someone just because they are the cousin of the CEO. No one likes them and they bring down the whole company.

    I worked at 1010data full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

competitive comp, free snacks, health insurance, a handful of bright people

    Cons

to echo what everyone else on here has said, the management seems to have taken a turn for the worst in the past year, most particularly the new "president" and his complete lack of a strategic direction for the company (or maybe he has a vision, and it's just asinine and poorly thought through?). Lately the company has been hemmorhaging some of the truely talented people that historically made it a great place to work, and has made a series of poor hiring (and firing) decisions. The few talented managers are now far to thinly stretched to provide anything resembling useful feedback. And finally they have entirely dropped the ball on innovating, not necessarily in terms of the core database technology, but in terms of the product offerings (especially when contrasted with the main competitors in the space).

    Advice to Management

Do a better job of hanging on to talent -- we aren't leaving because you're not buying us enough greek yogurt and berries, we're leaving because of a vicious cycle of stupid corporate strategy, poor management and bleak opportunity for career advancement.

I have been working at 1010data (More than 3 years)

    Pros

1010data is the best place I've worked. Having worked at a few companies, I can honestly say that there is a uniqueness to 1010data that makes it a great place to work.

First, there is a strong vision for the product and the company.

Second, it is a very flat company. There are very few management layers and nothing stops me from walking into the CEO’s office.

Third, you are working with very smart and motivated colleagues. This isn’t a company for wallflowers. 1010data attracts very bright people and they will push you to do your best.

Fourth, the pay is great and the benefits are above and beyond.

Five, it’s a fun place to work. Everyone is collegial and social while focused on getting their work done.

    Cons

If you do not like working for a company with cutting edge technology that solves hard problems and beats industry giants in competitive showdowns then 1010data is not the place for you. If you are not a self-motivated person that can work without a lot of handholding, then 1010data is not the place for you

    Advice to Management

Continue what you are doing. The opportunity for Big Data in today's environment is immeasurable. You've created an awesome workplace environment. Just continue to expand our benefits and training.

I have been working at 1010data full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Interaction between developers, analysts, sales, and upper management is encouraged.
    - You get a good sense for how a tech company works from top to bottom.
    - Technology is incredibly fast and allows analysts/developers the ability to get things done quickly and reliably.
    - Great company culture, encourages and rewards hard work.
    - Some great minds work here from all different backgrounds. You will be working with very smart individuals who enjoy collaborating and working toward a goal.
    - Pay is great, benefits even better.
    - Great company offsite/company gatherings.
    - Very different technology stack then what is out in the world, if you want to know how things REALLY work and how optimizations are made in real world systems this is a good place to learn.
    - You can make a difference if you know how to program and understand how to build robust reliable systems.
    - Its good place for the young, fearless and those that like challenges.

    Cons

    - Growing pains in being a fast growing/moving company.
    - Success relies on how everyone works together and sometimes all the pieces don't fall together when working on a project or with a client and that can be frustrating.
    - Company is being smart about how it grows and hires folks, however that means that sometimes there will be periods of being understaffed with regards to work load.
    - Because its still relatively small company you will be building things that the bigger tech companies probably have standardized and baked into there way of life.
    - Work life balance can sometimes be heavy on the work. But this is the life of a small tech company.

    Advice to Management

Invest in hiring more good people even if we don't necessarily need them at the moment.

    I have been working at 1010data full-time

    Pros

    - The people are what make 1010data awesome. Everyone is brilliant, passionate, and willing to help others outside of their team if they have relevant expertise. People often get together outside of work for various activities. These are the type of people you want to work with.
    - Most of the work revolves around solving academically interesting problems.
    - The company's technology is best in class
    - Company growth has been increasing year over year for a long time.
    - The compensation and benefits are top notch for a company of this size.
    - The corporate culture is centered around keeping employees happy. There is a lot of free food in the kitchen (fresh fruit, beef jerky, nuts, cereal, etc.). There are a bunch of recreational table games (pool, foosball, ping pong, shuffle board). We have regular corporate sponsored activities (happy hours, bowling night, a multi-day annual retreat, etc.). People are often at the office late, not because they're crunching to meet a deadline, but because they enjoy being here.
    - The company is a meritocracy, if you're good at what you do you will be rewarded. There's lots of room for personal growth and career advancement, but only if you are a go getter.

    Cons

    - The company's personnel growth often outstrips desk space. We'll move into a new office or complete construction on an existing office, only to find six months down the line that people are beginning to pile up again.
    - Management is not transparent about a lot of things. From salary to what's happening in certain parts of the business. Effort has been put in to improve in this area, but more work needs to be done.
    - Many parts of the business are very silo-ed and some teams are territorial about their products. At times this means you "just have to wait" for someone else to get something done.

    Advice to Management

Transparency is not a weakness. Obscuring certain parts of the business from large swaths of the company might not be the best way to move forward.
