I worked at 1st Financial Bank USA (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The salary was good if you could perform. If not, then it was terrible for the stress.

    Cons

This was the dirtiest place I have ever worked. People around me constantly sneezing, water drips throughout the building, ceiling tiles would fall on people from the roof leaking. One person was sick every single day; while others were sick most of the time.

I have been working at 1st Financial Bank USA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The only positive is the learning opportunity to work on a broad variety of task as resources are limited; and if you can feed the CEO's ego, you can have a good time. Most employees are great, except for the brown nose cronies of the CEO.

    Cons

The CEO owns 100% of the bank. For groups working directly with the CEO, life can be worse than hell. He works you, until he gets the last drop of blood from you. Work is often 7 days and 24 hours. He is a paranoid micromanager. Many times he came back from vacation and had conference calls that lasted 12+ hours. Many times he made staff work over Thanksgiving holidays. Once he sent a staff to ask another staff to come out of the toilet to take his call. He gets paranoid when you take a sick day. Calls you at home on every phone number you have. Some colleagues said he uses private detectives to find out whether you are really sick or faking it. He was and may be still in constant battle with bank regulators. He was fined about 20 million dollars for some regulatory violations some years back. Overall it is the worst place I ever worked at. I would never work their even if he paid me a million dollars.

    Advice to Management

Give up your ego. Come down to earth. Treat employees like humans.

I worked at 1st Financial Bank USA full-time

    Pros

It's an exciting place to work, assuming you like fighting for your job every day.

    Cons

The President of the company is an extraordinary micro-manager. Every year, they produce budgets for the next year that are approved -- and then promptly thrown away.

It then falls to VPs to get the President's attention long enough to explain what they need and why; then get him to authorize the expenditure. This has resulted in the VPs competing for the President's time.

The way they compete is by trying to make all the other VPs look bad. This ultimately filters down to the employee-level, since a VP made to look bad by another VP will seek a scapegoat.

As an employee, one is continually fearing for one's job; continually performing CYA (Cover Your Behind) activities with nothing to do with their job; and high turnover of both VPs and those under them. In four years, my department had three different VPs -- all of whom quit in disgust or after having lost the faith of the President.

It is a HORRIBLE place to work.

    Advice to Management

The problem is at the President level. He needs to trust his VPs.

    And that will NEVER HAPPEN.

    Pros

Great place to learn , learn new things forced to pick up pace and do what it takes to get the job done. Flexibility , pretty flat management.
No lay off during recessionary times. -- Stable place to work.

    Cons

Some people take advantage of the flexible hours, and ability to work from home, to the point where its being abused. management turns a blind eye to it. seen a person showing up only 60% of the time. Pay increase only keeps up with the inflation at lower levels. No bonuses or incentives. no formal training , expected to learn on our own.

    Advice to Management

weed out slackers. Reward hard work do not only offer only minimum increase 2.5%.

I have been working at 1st Financial Bank USA full-time

    Pros

Nothing interesting other than medical insurance premium is outside CTC
Easy interview questions(Inteviewer is incompetent, Criteria is you should not give clue that you will question the manager)
One person is responsible for interviewing candidates of all skills including DBA, Java Tech Leads, Data analyst, Business Analyst, QA manual and automation, Tibco Tech Leads, Technical writers, Dev Ops, sys admins. So it is easy to clear with basic skill of not raising your voice or opinion.
    Free dinner provided

    Cons

Totally negative environment. Every second you are in office you feel you are watched.
Manager is out dated with Technologies and incompetent
Managers due to their incompetency, only way they can manage team is via micro management.
Also it affects your day to day work since manager does not understand technical problems and provides illogical approach which will be waste of time. Ultimately you end up solving your way(And you will be blamed doing it wrong on the first go).
You need to be very careful while communicating since manager manipulates his words. Once you discuss, better to put the discussion in email. Half of your thinking ability goes in this.
Technologies are outdated. Learning curve will be horizontal line.
No appreciation or motivation to work. Reason for no appreciation is you are hired to do that job(Nothing gr8 you have done, its your job).
Securities are deployed to check on your breaks.
You will be questioned if you talk to people not in your team.
Total time spent sitting at your desk is counted and not the total productive work done.
Dont get cheated by the offer you get as it includes 20% variable.
CTC - 80% fixed 20% variable. Hardly you get 25% to 35% of your variable. So your CTC will be hardly 85% and 20% variable will only be in your offer letter and year on hike letter will mention fixed salary.
No work time flexibility - You can reach office only after 11am. If you have to leave 1 or 2 hours early, you need to compensate next day so you end up staying in office till 10pm or more.
No work life balance. Daily you end up reaching home late. Not a single day you will be able to reach home before 9PM.
No calls can be taken from home. Whatever the time you should attend from office and leave(No cabs are arranged since you are the only person nor reimbursed)
No Car parking facility for employees, it is only for senior management(only 4 slots). When you have to stay late in office it will be nightmare.
No cab facility for employees staying far. Example Rajarajeshwari Nagar is not in city limits, so cabs not provided.
You will not get any support from IT manager for any problem you are facing(It may be related to work or any other issue may be related to cab, etc)

Hope reading this feedback you will reject the offer. If you are unfortunate and accept this offer even after reading this feedback, when you experience this you will definitely remember it and you can relate it.

    Advice to Management

    Grow up and be professional.
But no use, you will not change

I worked at 1st Financial Bank USA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Nothing as such
Only good thing is cab facility available, though transport management is horrible

    Cons

Manager don't communicate to the subordinates
Hardwork is not identified so no proper desired hikes
20% percent variable pay on CTC, fetching entire variable amount is a dream. So you get only 80% inclusive taxes, cab etc. So calculate your salary
    No onsite oppurtunity
    No rewards and recognitions
    No extra cirricular activities
Awkwards timings, no work life balance
    Late shifts still no allowances
No team outing, no team lunches
Tools and technologies used are outdated, still using struts

WORST IS MICRO MANAGEMENT IT IS LIKE: who talks to whom, questions on taking breaks, no flexibility, no work still sit and stare at monitor.

Do not opt to join, instead go get a life.
