    Pros

A lot of autonomy. Ok to take risks. Creative environment. Decisions get made. Great people. Company cares about people and has a heart.

    Cons

The team is lean and everyone has to find smart ways to work.
It can be political even though it doesn't seem like it is.

I have been working at 2K full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Small group of fun hardworking people here. If you are lazy but have a good social game this is the company for you!

    Cons

Salaries way too low for location in Marin. Managers, Directors, and VPs only concerned with themselves. Zero mentoring at the company. No interest in developing hard working employees. Once you start working here you will be pidgeon holed to that task and job title. After begging for other responsibilities in order to grow, a year later you still will not get a promotion. Glad to be moving on, there are way better company's to work for, ones that appreciate their employees.

    Advice to Management

Hire new VPs who will actually come out of their offices and speak to employees. Wages need to much higher for this area.

    I have been working at 2K full-time

    Pros

Yearly bonus. Option to live north of San Francisco and close to work (but not generally recommended for young single professionals).

    Cons

As others have stated, there is a very cliquish element. There is absolutely no onboarding, and there is mass dysfunction between different departments. There is quite a bit of favoritism at play - too many employees exist that don't contribute very much, while some very talented individuals are demoralized because of lack of job growth, and very little recognition from top leadership. Senior leadership functions like they are too busy to get back to employees. Some completely ignore simple email requests. Because of the location, this place has a very hard time attracting and keeping talent - unless the employees are tied to Marin, it's pretty much impossible to keep good talent given the deficiencies that exist in this company.

    Advice to Management

Take a serious look at who actually has contributed to the company. Actually look at accomplishments versus who you enjoy shooting the bull with, and make the tough decisions.

    I have been working at 2K full-time

    Pros

Every project has a meaningful purpose and well funded and supported by the board. PR department is very experienced and skilled. You don't have to worry about your work being wasted, just focus on what you are doing and let the company think about the other stuff.

    Cons

The salary package is not that attractive.

    Cons

Very low pay, management only looks for the negatives in most employees and ignores the positives. Lots of Overtime

I have been working at 2K full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Fun work environment and people.
People there are very easy to get along with.
People are very dedicated and passionate about the work they do.
    Pet-Friendly.
    Very supportive atmosphere.

    Cons

    Lack of leadership and communication.
You really have to be pro-active if you want change.
The core technology is not at the same level as many other AAA companies. Hard to work with at times. This makes it difficult for artists to truly show their talents when the tech makes it look sub-par.
Hard to find and retain top or senior talent.
    Lack of organization.
Crunch with no OT pay (Sometimes made up with comp time)

    Advice to Management

Wish top directors would show more interest in what their employees do for them. They seem to be more concerned with getting product out the door and less time getting to know the people that work for them. Maybe try just walking around and introducing yourself and ask what they are working on, are they enjoying the work or ask what could help make their job easier. Make people feel appreciated and valued. Not much to ask for.

Location is sort of in the middle of no where. But its not a super long drive from the city

I have been working at 2K full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people and culture is great at this company. Everyone is really nice and it feels like a family.

    Cons

Compensation is not competitive with Bay Area companies that take into consideration the cost of living here.

I have been working at 2K part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

All the perks of working for a large corporation (matching 401k, health plan, enrichment classes, snacks, well-organized company events).

    Dog-friendly.

While no one works remotely, they do support VPN and smartphone profiles to access work emails through your native email app. Sounds trivial, but it takes away a lot of friction.

Situated next to a wetland restoration area with trails for running.

Reverse commute from SF (north bay has the only true "reverse-commute" left in the bay area) is really nice.

    Cons

Individual studios within 2K are treated like separate companies, no sharing of ideas or resources. Every team is reinventing the wheel.

While individual studios have a more "small team" feel, we still encounter the red tape of being in a big company.

No self-evaluations during annual reviews. You don't always get asked to review your manager.

During company holidays, hourly employees don't get any PTO (not even pro-rated) if they worked an average of less than 30 hours a week.

There is one cafe in the building complex that has some bizarre monopoly, preventing other businesses (even food trucks) from selling directly to customers. To get around this, 2K has its own "menu" of 5 meals that it orders from 2 places a day and then sells the meals back to us. And once in a while it pays food trucks a lump sum to distribute meals for free.

    Advice to Management

    Review process is too one-sided.
