Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

Thank you for sharing this detailed review. We’re glad to hear you’re enjoying the company culture, benefits, and compensation. As relationship managers, our admissions counselors talk to potential students about the program they are interested in and have enrollment goals to meet, just like on-campus admissions teams do. Many students state they would not have gone through the process without the support, guidance, and persistence of their admissions counselors. Thank you for the work you do each day to support our students. We’re concerned about the negative experiences you shared in your review. We’d like to know more so we can address the issues and create a more positive Lifeat2U for all 2Utes. Please email us at feedback@2U.com and reference “my Glassdoor review” to share more.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We’re glad you’re fond of 2U and have enjoyed unlimited PTO and remote work. As you've likely heard us share on all-company calls, we regularly conduct pay and benefits reviews to ensure we are competitive in the market. This helps us achieve our goal of both recruiting and retaining top talent. While some employees may leave to pursue other opportunities, we are proud of our company culture and our investment in employees. If you are willing to chat further, please contact us at feedback@2u.com and reference “my Glassdoor review.”

I don't recommend you work here.

    Jul 19, 2022 - Anonymous Employee

    Business Outlook

    Pros

    Unlimited PTO and summer Fridays.

    Cons

Leadership makes overnight decisions that affect the whole workforce on 0 bases and communicates them by email with no warning. Last year it was announced we could be fully remote, 2 months ago they announced that starting in Sept. everyone would report to the office 2 days a week. Oh, wait! We're actually closing every office except 2 major ones, including edX's new office that had been in the works for a year, so everyone will be fully remote again. Asks for cost of living increases or raises are met with a shrug, and an attitude of "if you don't like it, leave." Culture is very forcefully happy - people in leadership pretend to be to boost morale, but no one *really* likes working here that much.

    Pros

    Cons

Thanks for your detailed review! We’re glad to see you were happy with your PTO and health benefits, leadership, and swag. In regards to growth, we recommend 2Utes speak directly with their managers to develop a career path that fits their unique goals. Knowing you are no longer with us, we hope you were able to take advantage of some of the tuition benefit programs and professional development training available to all employees. In regards to compensation, we regularly conduct pay and benefits reviews to ensure we are competitive in the market. That being said, we’re concerned about some of the experiences you describe, particularly around promotions. We would like to hear more so we can address it. If you are comfortable, please email us at feedback@2U.com and reference “my Glassdoor review.”

We're glad to see you're enjoying unlimited PTO. We do ask that 2Utes request time off in order to ensure it is being made available to 2Utes and being taken by 2Utes. This gives us data to understand how we should address burnout among teams and help promote a good work/life balance. We encourage managers to approve as much as possible without risking the support we provide to our university partners and their students.

    Cons

the company's culture has changed drastically. When i first started the company was amazing and it was laid back and a relaxing place to work. As time progressed, people who started with the company in its inception are being placed in leadership roles that they are completely under qualified for. Upper leadership within the organization is absolutely terrible. There is absolutely no need for manager role within the company If directors in the company actually did there job properly. Also the benefits suck,

Thank you for sharing your experience. Your insights into some of our growing pains, especially as we become a global organization, are valuable to understanding the areas we need to continue to focus on. As we grow and evolve, developing managers while creating a more seamless student experience will be top priorities for our leadership.
