    I worked at 42West full-time

    Pros

Culture was enjoyable, day to day always changed

    Cons

There is really no work/life balance, you will work 24/7 but it comes with the territory so that was to be expected

I have been working at 42West full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fridge is fully stocked with sodas, everyone ranges from pleasant to friendly, no one's really a diva. The 42West name is super credible and they take on a lot of high level clients. Office is bright and comfortable and they provide you with any resources and support you may need to do your work.

    Cons

Assistant-level salary is low -- BUT it is in line with most other agency and entertainment assistant salaries in town. Sometimes the kitchen runs out of Diet Coke and all we're left with in terms of 0cal soda is Diet Dr. Pepper.

I have been working at 42West full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Atmosphere is amicable, the brand new office is extremely nice.

    Cons

The salaries are absolutely appalling--does not compensate for the hours of work per week.

    I worked at 42West full-time

    Pros

There's a 20 word minimum for this but I have nothing good to say about this company.

    Cons

Ridiculous management. Petty and will not provide any feedback until the moment you make a mistake. Extremely negative and unhelpful. Attitudes left and right. Salary is not one you can live off of for the work they want you to do. Higher ups will talk down to you and make you feel like you're not really a part of the team. Overall really fake people who have their heads way too far up their...

    Advice to Management

Expectations are ridiculous - training is terrible. Fix your attitudes.

I have been working at 42West full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good client roster in film.

    Cons

This is not really PR or publicity. This is more like being an assistant to your client. There is no decision making allowed, all has to be approved by the top celeb publicists who are in their roles basically because they suck up to the owners. The press releases and emails that go out are a huge embarrassment. If you enjoy making hair and wardrobe arrangements for clients, while tip-toeing around giant undeserved egos, this is your place. The company is not run well and there is no real professionalism here. I should have known during the ridiculous and schizophrenic interview process that I was making a mistake but I jumped right in, now to get out before I become one of them...

    Advice to Management

Start over. Treat your employees like the professionals they are. Learn to write, learn grammar, learn what PR is.

    I have been working at 42West full-time

    Pros

Paid overtime, paid vacations, sick days, personal days, 401K plan, health care and dental benefits, possibility to work from home.

    Cons

Little to no work/life balance. Even when you are on vacation, something will usually come up that you will have to address.

    Advice to Management

There should be more respect for an employee's time off. There should also be more respect for lower level staff. Assistants shouldn't be made to feel as if they aren't an essential part of the team and they should not be spoken down to.

I worked at 42West (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Top clients in industry give you experience of understanding demands and how to develop strategies and campaigns.

    Cons

CEO creates culture of pettiness. She pits people against one another and always needs to be in the limelight. Corporate culture spreads downward from her bad leadership.

    Advice to Management

Put in a new managing director who cares about people, genuinely.

I worked at 42West (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good client roster
The film department has better hours and culture than the talent department
    Decent health and savings benefits

    Cons

    Petty management
Long hours - longer than other Entertainment PR companies
Barely any OT when compared to all of the overtime worked. You basically only get paid if you are at an event. If you are in the office until 9pm working on regular tasks you will not get OT
    High turnover rate

    Advice to Management

Treat junior members better and there will not be as much turnover

    I worked at 42West full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good client roster, free gifts.

    Cons

Horrible work-life balance, very little training, extremely stressful, verbally abused by publicists, get no lunch break (which is illegal), barely have time to go to the restroom, hours are way too long, incredibly understaffed and underpaid for how much work there is, you have no life if you work in the talent department here.

    Advice to Management

Hire more and new employees, see above.
