I have been working at 51Talk full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

There are no pros to be mentioned at the moment .

    Cons

-slow and laggy website (teachers' fault) -classroom that keeps crashing, does not work properly (teachers' fault) -high penalties for cancelling lessons (even when it's something you can't do anything about) -team support members that can't speak English and just reply with generic messages (in translation, useless) -ever since HAWO took over, senior teachers have been fired without any valid reason (they used to...

    Advice to Management

I don't think any advice could help you now. You're aware of what you're doing, and you probably know that it won't last long. The only reason why you became popular is because of all those teachers that your student truly like. Kicking them out was your biggest mistake. Lower salaries = lower quality, lower quality = slow demise, I'm sure you're simple brains can understand that much.

I worked at 51Talk part-time for more than a year

    Pros

You are able to work from home

    Cons

Their platform did not always work and the teacher is penalized. It takes a long time to get your page reset if you are locked out. Teacher's are seen as replaceable.

    Advice to Management

Streamline the system for teachers to reset page and contact support. Support employees have very bad attitudes.

I have been working at 51Talk full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

The students are a joy! The company pay is good for teachers who have been there for years( (but theyll prpbably reduce our pay soon too)....

    Cons

-new teacher salary is low, so many other companies pay more -they just started charging teachers THEIR processing fee!!!! so we have to pay to get paid.... -management constantly changes and every month they change some rule or policy -sick /emergency leave is not flexible -many more cons, these are just a few...

    Advice to Management

Remember, without teachers you would have no school.

    I worked at 51Talk part-time

    Pros

flexible, if you like being afraid - this is the place for your, if you like paying to get paid - this is the place for you, and as with most schools, the kids are great

    Cons

Management, charges for getting paid with no receipts or explanation of why charged, employees are always in fear, and ridiculous charges for missing a class up to 3 times your pay.

    Advice to Management

Recognize ALL your employees, there is no need to work in fear, quit charging for pay earned, and at least, provide a receipt of why being charged, and try a new method, power and control is not working.

I have been working at 51Talk full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Working from home and having such a short commute (hardy har har) is amazing. Having control over your own schedule is also a bonus.

    Cons

They recently cut their senior teacher's pay by 32% while increasing the overall cost for parents to use native English speakers.

    Advice to Management

Many of the senior teachers have worked for 51talk for years now. To have our pay cut by 32% without warning is not only highly disrespectful, but an absolute failure as far as management goes. This company has done increasingly shady things over the past year. They lack transparency and getting a direct answer to a question is nearly impossible. The TES, Teacher Experience Specialists or whatever the acronym stands for,...
